What is RVezy? How does this work?

RVezy is Canada’s first and largest RV rental marketplace! If you own an RV, you can list it for free on our website and rent it out to aspiring vacationers when you’re not using it. You can earn up to $1400/week. As an owner on the RVezy platform, we provide the insurance for your RV when it is being rented out. You and your RV are fully protected in all situations.

Why should I list my RV with RVezy?

Rvezy is a great platform that allows private RV owners to be able to rent out their RV when they’re not using it. RVezy provides insurance to your RV when it is being rented out so owners do not have to get a commercial insurance policy. We take care of all payments, security deposits, support and help drive traffic to your RV to keep your RV as busy as you want it to be.

What is the service fee? What does it include?

Rvezy takes a 15% service fee from the rental amount you have chosen, for example; If you set your rental price for $1000/week, you receive $850 and we take $150. In that service fee also includes the insurance, so there is no extra cost for your RV to be protected during the rental.

Are there any additional charges?

Nope! The owner does not have any additional charges.

Insurance Information

How does insurance work?

As an owner with RVezy, your RV is fully protected by our insurance policy when it is being rented through us. What Is Included:
  • $2m Third Party Liability Coverage
  • Collision & Comprehensive
  • All Physical damages
  • Fire, Theft & Vandalism
How it Works: When you are using your RV it will be your personal insurance policy, when it gets rented through RVezy, on the trip start date the insurance coverage switches over to the RVezy insurance policy protecting your RV for the duration of the rental. If you would like to see more information about the Insurance, you can also head to the Trust and Safety section of the site.
Please note, that Rvezy insurance coverage only applies to motorhomes in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. RVezy also provides insurance to all travel trailers across Canada. 

Why are there different levels of insurance?

RVezy provides Insurance for every rental. On the renter's side, they have the choice of the deductible level they want to be responsible for. Regardless of the level, they choose it does not change the coverage of the insurance. Basic - Renters are responsible for a $5000 deductible in the case of an accident or claim cost: no additional charge Standard - Renters are responsible for a $1500 deductible in the case of an accident or claim cost: 10% extra of the rental amount Premium - Renters are responsible for a $500 deductible in the case of an accident or claim cost: 25% extra of the rental amount

What's covered by the security deposit?

The security deposit is taken as any precaution to small damages that may occur that wouldn't result in an insurance claim or any additional charges that you may charge at the end of the booking.

Do I need a commercial insurance policy?

No, RVezy provides the insurance when your RV is being rented out. As an owner, you only need your regular personal insurance policy for when you are using the RV.

Do you screen renters?

Yes, in order to rent an RV a renter must have an unrestricted drivers license for over 8 years which would result in all renters being at least 25 years of age. Once a renter submits a booking request they are required to complete a drivers license check and insurance check.

Do you screen my RV?

All RV owners are required to complete an insurance application form. This application is completed so that we have your information on file for insurance purposes. Additionally, we do ask some questions that establish a level of responsibility on the owners part. RVezy is a community of outdoor enthusiasts and we want to maintain an exceptional level of quality and service to all users.

What if my RV gets wrecked?

Our experience is that RVs are well taken care of by renters and come back in the same, if not better, condition than when it goes out. In the extremely rare case that your RV is damaged during the rental, you are backed by our industry leading insurance coverage provided by Intact Insurance. Your coverage during the rental includes:
  • $2M third-party liability coverage
  • Collision and Comprehensive
  • Physical Damage
  • No deductible costs to you as an owner

What if my RV never comes back?

Rest assured that RVezy’s commercial insurance policy provided by Intact Insurance has you covered up to the actual cash value of your RV. RVezy’s commercial insurance covers motorhomes in the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta and trailers registered in any province across the country.

What if something breaks down when the renter is on the road, who pays for it.

In the event of a breakdown or mechanical failure of an RV, our roadside coverage that is provided to renters will ensure that they are quickly and safely able to get off the road to the nearest repair facility. At that point, it will be the responsibility of the owner to pay for any mechanical repairs of the RV so that the renter can continue on his/her vacation.


LISTING YOUR RV 

What type of RV’s can I list?

We love RVs of all shapes and sizes! The great thing about RVezy is the variety of options available to aspiring vacationers. From large luxurious Class A motorhomes to more rustic tent trailers, to Vintage Westfalia Campervans, RVezy has the widest selection of privately owned RVs in Canada. If you own a seasonal park model we even have a category for that, we like to call them RV Cottages.

What qualifies as an RV?

Here is a list of the most common types of RV's we see on the site:

My RV is older, can I still list it with RVezy?

Yes! However, for your RV to be automatically approved by our insurance policy, it has to be 20 years old or less. If your RV is older, it will require special approval from our insurance provider to ensure that it is roadworthy and in good working condition. Once you list the RV we will provide the information to the insurance company.

Can I list my park model?

Absolutely! We refer to park models as “RV Cottages” on our website and you are more than welcome to create a listing. Just make sure to double-check with your campground to ensure that they are comfortable with having you rental out your park model on their campsite.

Can I list my fifth wheel?

Fifth Wheel trailers are amazing RVs and are sought after for their spacious interiors and creative use of space. A large pickup truck is needed to tow a fifth wheel and not all renters have access to that type of vehicle. We have many renters that are looking for delivery options and a fifth wheel is a great opportunity. As a fifth wheel owner, you can expect booking requests that request delivery whether a campground, festival, or even a movie set. You never know exactly who may send you a booking request.

Can I deliver my RV?

Yes. You are more than welcome to offer delivery for your RV for an additional fee if your renter requests it. Many of our owners prefer to deliver and set up their trailers, as they are most familiar with how to handle their trailer, minimizing risk. Just make sure you list the delivery charges in your listing so that you don’t surprise your potential renters with unexpected charges.

What accessories should I provide the renter?

You are not obliged to provide any accessories for renters, however, making their stay as comfortable as possible does leave a good impression. This is particularly important when it comes to the review process as renters are more likely to leave great reviews for owners who are accommodating, which has a positive impact on your ability to secure bookings for your RV in the future. Some additional accessories that our owners provide include:
  • Linens
  • Dishes and cutlery
  • Camping chairs
  • Barbeque
  • TV

How much should I charge?

The rate that you would set for your RV depends on the type, the year, the amenities, the number of beds, etc. The RV rental year is also characterized by a high season and a low season, rates should vary between these time of year. You can check out this blog for some pricing recommendations.

Can I list multiple RVs?

Of course! In your dashboard, you can click on "My RVs" then “Add a new listing”. It will be the same process as your first listing and you will see all your RV’s listed on your dashboard.

Do I set the parameters for the rental?

Yes, owners have full control of their listing! As the owner, you set the pricing, availability, renter screening, pets allowed or smoking friendly and any other conditions for your RV.

Can I charge for delivery?

Yes, owners can add, add-ons to their listing, which allows them to charge for things such as delivery. RVezy recommends adding a couple of different add-ons for delivery.
Example:
  • Delivery (Within 100KM) = $100
  • Delivery (within 250KM) = $250

What are add-ons?

These are specific offering owners can add to their listing at an additional cost. Many owners offer add-ons for delivery, generator use, BBQ, camping chairs, bike racks, etc. You can add these when you are editing your RV in the “add-ons” section.

Can I charge for kilometers driven?

Yes, owners can set a daily limit of kms on their RV then charge per km if the renter exceeds that amount. RVezy recommends that owners provide an adequate amount of daily kms (300km/day) this allows renters to feel the freedom of driving but then also limits total kms be driven in your vehicle.

Can I give a special discount?

Yes, you are in full control over your prices and how much you want to charge. At the time of listing your RV, you choose your nightly, weekly and monthly rates. Most owners will give a discount at the weekly and monthly rates. If you are communicating with a renter and you both come to an agreement on price, get the renter to put in a booking request and then send an email to hello@rvezy.com and let us know the special price you want to charge and RVezy will make the adjustments for you.

How much should I charge for the security deposit?

As the owner, you set the price of the security deposit. On average, we recommend owner charge between $500 - $1500 for the security deposit as this will help cover any cost that may arise from damages, extra kms, cleaning fees, etc during the rental period. If both owner and renter are happy with the trip and no additional charges are added the renter will receive their full deposit back.

How do I create an account?

You can easily create an account by clicking on the “signup” button at the top of the webpage. Once you click on that button you will be prompted to sign up as an owner. You can then choose to sign up with your email, facebook account or google account.

How do I update my password?

To change your email address, log in to your account by clicking on “sign in” and then head over to your dashboard. Once in your dashboard click on edit profile here you can change your phone number, email address and other information.

How do I upload my profile picture?

To upload your profile picture, log in to your account by clicking on “sign in” and then head over to your dashboard. Once in your dashboard click on edit profile here you can upload a profile picture in the photo section. **Please note that all pictures that are larger than 1024x1024 will be scaled down**

How do I edit my listing

To edit your listing, log in to your account by clicking on “sign in” and then head over to your dashboard. Once in your dashboard click on My RVs, here you can see the RV(s) you have listed on the website and make any adjustments to them.

Booking Request Information  

How does the booking process work?

Can I decline a booking?

Yes, you have full control over who will be renting your RV. You will receive booking requests from potential renters. They will often provide details about their plans, if you are not comfortable with those plans or the RV is not available during those times you are able to decline the booking.

What do I do if a renter wants to change their dates?

If you have a booking request and the renter wants to update their dates, please send an email to hello@rvezy.com with booking number and new dates and an RVezy team member will be able to update the booking for you.

How do I contact the renter?

You can contact the owner directly through our messaging system in the dashboard. You may exchange phone numbers and emails too to help solidify trip details.

What is an approved driver?

RVezy does a complete background check on the renters who may be renting your RV. Once a booking request is submitted, the renter is prompted to complete a background check and driving record check. If everything comes back positive they will be added as an "approved driver" to the booking.

I received my first booking request, what next?

That's great! The first thing you should do I review the booking request, make sure the dates work for you and you are comfortable with the trip details. If no details were given, we recommend reaching out to the renter to gather as much information as possible. Once you are ready you can either accept or decline the booking. If accepted the renter will be prompted to enter payment details.

I have received multiple booking requests for the same date, what should I do?

RVezy recommends that you contact each renter and let them know of the other potential renters. This will show the renters that if they are serious about booking they need to make a decision. It is recommended to accept all the bookings and then inform all renters you have accepted 3 bookings for those dates and whoever submits payment information first will secure those dates.

How do I screen the renter?

RVezy does a preliminary screening of all renters by doing a comprehensive drivers background check and criminal background check making sure they meet proper renting standards. As the owner, we always suggest that you make sure you are comfortable with the people you are renting your RV to. As an owner, asking questions about trip details, how many people are going or even speaking with the renter over the phone is a great way to screen your renter.

What is a booking voucher?

The booking voucher is a document provided to you from RVezy everytime a deposit is made on a booking request. The document includes contact information for both owner and renters, trip details and RV information.

Who is responsible for cleaning the RV?

Renters are expected to return the RV in the same condition that it was given to them. Renters should bring them back in a good, clean condition. If the RV is noticeably dirty or not up to standards then a cleaning fee of $150 can be charged to the renter for a cleaning fee. Owners should expect that small things will still need to be completed by the owner, such as sweeping, etc once the renter has removed all belongings from the RV. If you need to add a cleaning fee charge, RVezy has the right to enter it into the claims process and investigate the situation to see if the claim is valid.

Am I responsible for emptying the grey and black tanks?

Renters are expected to return the RV in the same condition that it was given to them. If the tanks are empty when the renter takes the RV they should be emptied upon return. As the owner, you are responsible to go over with the renter how to properly empty the tanks during the walkthrough.

PAYMENT INFORMATION  

When do I get paid?

Rvezy provides a secure and reliable platform for both owners and renters. We handle all the transactions between renter and owner to deter fraudulent transactions. RV owners will receive 50% of the payout amount 24 hours after the start date of the rental. Once the RV is returned and you as the owner have left the review and closed out the booking, the other 50% will be deposited. Please note that your first time receiving payment may take up to 7 business days to be shown in your account.

How do I get paid?

RVezy uses direct deposit as the payment method to the owners. You will need to provide us with your direct deposit information:
  • Account Number
  • Transit Number (5 digits)
  • Institution Number (3 digits)
To upload your banking information, head to your dashboard and on the left-hand side click on "my payout info". Here you can add your banking information required for payouts.

Why do I have to give my Social Insurance Number?

We require a SIN number for any accumulated transaction over $2000. This is required by our payment processing system to help prevent money laundering through the platform. 

Do I have to declare my RVezy income?

Yes, money earned by renting your RV out through RVezy is claimable income. We recommend speaking to a professional accountant on how to properly claim the income.

Can I collect HST? Do I need to charge HST?

Yes, as an owner you have the option of adding your HST account number to your profile. If you choose to add your HST account we will automatically charge the renter at the time of the booking and then it will be included in the payout.

Does RVezy provide a statement of earnings?

RVezy provides a payout receipt for each rental, we do not provide an end of year statment.
