Rockwood Minilite 2506s Travel Trailer
5.0

Sleeps 4 • Travel Trailer

Nanaimo, BC (3.1 km away)

(From the manufacturer) The Rockwood Minilite 2506s has a very spacious front kitchen with loads of counter space and is perfect for the family that loves to cook. The 44" X 85" U dinette can seat the whole family comfortably to enjoy the dinner that you prepared in your nice inside or outside kitchen. This trailer is equipped with a walk around 60" X 74" queen bed with nightstands and wardrobe components on both sides. The entertainment center fire place space heater is perfect for warming up your unit without using your furnace. (From me) I’ll be adding better pictures soon, for now I’ve included photos from the manufacturer. Fantastic layout, great kitchen with lots of counter space and a nice open living area with tv, stereo and an electric fireplace. Keep in mind the electric fireplace only works if you are plugged into shore power. It is easily towable with a half ton truck. You will require a 7 pin trailer wiring harness and brake controller if you want to tow it yourself. Included in the rental is the hitch with equalizer bars for added stability when towing. Power stabilizers help with making set up even easier. With the built in solar and ample battery storage this trailer is equally at home boondocking or in a full service RV site. It has a 1,000 watt inverter built in and I have upgraded to lithium battery. The queen sized bed is comfortable with a memory foam topper. There is also a second tv located in the bedroom. The dinette converts into another bed and can sleep 2 people snugly. The bathroom is plenty big, lots of storage and a corner shower with sliding doors so you do’t have the shower curtain reach out and touch you! There is a skylight over the shower for extra headroom, I’m 6’1” and fit no problem. The toilet is porcelain so no creaky noises when using and easy to clean. The fridge is a two way, either 110 volt if you are on shore power or propane for dry camping without services. It is a large fridge for an RV and has a separate freezer. There is a 3 burner stove with an oven, so nice to be able to make pilsbury cinnamon buns in the oven for breakfast while having a morning tea! The double sink is large and deep, so much more user friendly than other RVs I’ve used in the past. There is also sink covers which double as cutting boards. The hot water tank can be run on propane (when off grid) or off electricity (when in a full service RV site). It you’re camping in cooler weather there are tank heaters for the fresh and waste water tanks. The TV plays DVD’s or can often pick up over the air TV stations with the antenna turned on. I usually use an adapter to play direct from my phone via FireWire to an HDMI adapter and watch downloaded Netflix shows. There are three zones for the stereo to play music; the kitchen/living area, the bedroom and outside. Choose any combination you want. The trailer is also equipped with an outside kitchen with a two burner stove, a small fridge and a griddle which attaches to the exterior of the trailer for cooking outside as an option. There is also hot and cold water at the outside kitchen. There is also a receiver hitch on the trailer which can accommodate 300lbs. If you want to attach a bike rack or a storage platform you could do that as well. There is also an outside shower if you like to rinse off or give the dog a hose down. The trailer comes equipped with all the vacation essentials: towels, dishes, cutlery, glasses, mugs, plates, pots and pans, and assorted cooking accessories. I’ve had several guests who prefer to use their own bedding, just let us know if you want bedding included and we’ll have it ready for you. No additional charge for bedding if you want it, just saves me the set up if you don’t. If you are wanting to tow the trailer yourself, please describe the tow vehicle and your towing experience in your booking request. You must have a brake controller, receiver hitch and a vehicle capable of handling the tongue weight. Extras: Well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the fun with an additional pet charge. A 4,500 watt generator is available at an additional charge. A freestanding solar panel is available at an additional charge. This works great in allowing you to park the trailer in a shaded area and place the extra solar panel out in the direct Sun.

Discover Nanaimo

When you pick up your RV rental in Nanaimo, British Columbia, it’s possible to camp near the ocean, tour the city, and escape to the mountains all in one day. Located on the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, the Harbour City can be either a primary destination or a base camp for mainland adventures in Vancouver.

Since Nanaimo is located on Vancouver Island, renters can either fly into the city and pick up their rental or take a ferry with their RV rental from Vancouver. With a rental camper in Nanaimo, you can traverse one of the longest shorelines in Canada, visit First Nation historical sites, or park your rig and hop aboard a whale-watching cruise.

The best time to visit Nanaimo is between May and August, when the temperatures are comfortable and rain chances lessen. Nanaimo comes alive with weekly street markets, walking food and drink tours, and events like the Marine Festival and World Championship Bathtub Race during the summer.

You don’t have to drive far to find one of the best RV parks in Nanaimo. The Living Forest Oceanside Campground and RV Resort is a full-service facility located 3 miles (5 kilometres) from the center of the city. This waterfront property is one of the area’s top-rated RV resorts because of its scenic views, spacious pull-through and back-in sites, and various amenities. The resort has a park store, laundry room, boat rental facility, and a game room for kids. Campers can stay close to their RV and enjoy the sunbathing and swimming beach or venture out into town to ride bikes or walk along the Nanaimo Harbourfront Walkway.

Do you prefer a quiet, natural campground setting? The Englishman River Falls Provincial Park campground is less than an hour’s drive from Nanaimo and set among an old-growth forest near hiking trails, a swimming hole, and two waterfalls. This campground operates seasonally and is ideal for self-contained RVs. All campsites are primitive, but campers may use the vault toilets and drinking water taps on site. Animal lovers will like that the campground is minutes away from the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre.

RVers who enjoy primitive campsites with upgraded campground services like showers, drinking water, and a sani-dump station will find Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park the ideal place to set up camp. Popular park activities include saltwater fishing, bird watching, canoeing, swimming, and windsurfing. The oceanfront park is located 21 miles (35 kilometres) north of the city and is one of Nanaimo’s best RV campgrounds. Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park is a popular destination during the summer, and because of high demand, campers must make reservations.

To get to Nanaimo from mainland British Columbia with your rental RV, you will have to travel by ferry. However, once you arrive on Vancouver Island, you can either travel in your RV and find oversized parking or take advantage of the city’s public transportation system.

The wildlife viewing opportunities in Nanaimo are incredible. The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is a non-profit rehabilitation facility that cares for eagles, bears, and other birds. Families can schedule a group or self-guided tour to learn what it takes to rehabilitate the animals and reintroduce them back into the wild. Add a whale-watching tour to your itinerary to see orcas, humpback whales, and other marine life. In addition, several organizations on the island offer boat tours, so you can find the best excursion for you and your family.

There are so many things to see and do with a rental camper in Nanaimo. You can take your rig to the campground and spend time enjoying activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming, or you can venture out into the city. Take a stroll on the Nanaimo Harbourfront Walkway or stop by the Visitor Centre or Nanaimo Museum to pick up a historic walking tour map.

Nanaimo’s diverse culinary scene is sure to fill your bellies and lift your spirits. Visit a farmer’s market or stop by one of the seafood restaurants for locally harvested items and fresh-caught fish. To taste a little bit of everything, you can schedule a food and drink tour. The Nanaimo Bar Trail and the vineyards and wineries will introduce you to local beverages and unique flavors and educate visitors on what makes Vancouver Island’s spirits and wines so special.

Summertime visitors who want to learn about Nanaimo’s culture can find an event or festival almost every weekend. The Marine Festival and World Championship Bathtub Race is a quirky local event that's entertained people since 1967. This spectacular, hosted by the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society, is family friendly and fun! Other events like the Nanaimo Fringe Festival and Commercial Street Night Markets will give visitors a taste of life on Vancouver Island. Once you visit, you will quickly discover how a blend of culture and camping will make your trip to Nanaimo one to remember.
