Campgrounds and RV parks near Cold Lake 149, AB

Cold Lake 149 is a Cold Lake First Nations reserve on the south shore of Cold Lake, one of the largest lakes in northern Alberta. The area sits in Alberta's Lakeland district, about 300 km northeast of Edmonton near the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. The Cold Lake First Nations reserves include Cold Lake 149, 149A, and 149B. The setting is boreal forest, sandy beaches, and clear lakes, with an active summer boating and fishing scene. RV travellers typically base out of the city of Cold Lake and use nearby provincial parks for hookups and beach access. Cold Lake Provincial Park has 117 sites, including power, power-and-water, and walk-in tent sites. Closer to town, RunWay RV Park offers a small number of full-service pads suited to shorter stays or overnight stops, and Spring Beach Resort provides another lakeside private option. Across the Saskatchewan border, Meadow Lake Provincial Park extends the trip east into a much larger wilderness. It is a boreal forest park along the Waterhen and Cold Rivers, is the largest provincial park in Saskatchewan, and encompasses more than 20 lakes in an area of 1,600 square kilometres. South of Cold Lake, Whitney Lakes Provincial Park adds a quieter option focused on beach camping and hiking, with Ross Lake as its main campground and Hirtz Lake sitting inside Meadow Lake Provincial Park.

Popular loops with power and lake views go first, so booking near the 90-day window is recommended for July and August weekends. Saskatchewan provincial parks, including Hirtz Lake and other sites in Meadow Lake Provincial Park, use a separate system at parks.saskatchewan.ca. Reservation opening dates and any staggered launch windows are posted on the Sask Parks site each spring. Private parks such as RunWay RV Park and Spring Beach Resort take direct bookings and are useful backups when provincial sites are full.
