Until you have roamed the desert southwest in a 1994 Chevy Falcon conversion van, you have not lived. This is definitely not a choice for someone seeking all of the luxury conveniences of a full sized RV, but if you are looking for an experience that’s funky and not dictated by the rules that apply to giant vehicles, then this might be perfect for you, especially if you are a fan of photogenic vintage vans. Every shot we took with the Falcon looks like a postcard! John has tried to think of everything you would need for a great camping vacation, including a French press coffee maker and a juicer! He provides dishes, towels, linens, camp chairs, and much more. We were traveling from out of state so it was perfect for us. We didn’t have to worry about bringing anything but ourselves, our clothing, our cameras, and our sense of adventure. The bed is a little small for two full sized people; my partner is 6 feet and couldn’t lay all the way straight. It wasn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but if you are a tall person who needs to stretch out, then you might not enjoy sleeping in the Falcon. It was fine for us. Technically, the van does sleep three because the front passenger seat folds flat but I wouldn’t recommend that for any person but a child. We had a little trouble with the onboard heater during our trip, but John was extremely responsive and worked from the next state away to help us have heat by the next night. He is a great host and I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from him again.
