- jack S.sept. 2023best RV
- Catherine P.août 2023We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in this RV. Having only ever done tent camping before, the whole experience felt very luxurious. Hong was great to deal with: very prompt in her communication and also accommodating with pick ups and drop offs. My only tip would be to bring a few extra cooking and eating utensils. I was happy we brought additional cutlery and mugs. Next time, I would also bring a sharper peeler, grater, tin opener, bottle opener, sieve and some extra bowls for soup or cereal. We also brought our own pillows and bedding. Value-wise, we did find the whole process pretty costly, but this is less a reflection on Hong, and more a reflection on the RVeazy additional costs (insurance, road side assistance, transaction fees etc and of course the high cost of gas). All in all a really positive experience. Thank you, Hong.
- Sanne V.juil. 2023Decent RV, technically perfectly fine and very clean as well. Next time I would bring my own cutlery as I prefer to eat with steal cutlery instead of cheap plastic ones. Bring your own cups and mugs as wel, unless you don’t mind plastics. Communication via chat is perfectly fine. Husband did the explanation of the RV in well understandable English. Everything else is arranged by his wife, very friendly but it’s a bit more difficult to communicate with. This was our first time RV’ing. We’ve had a lovely week.
- Sam D.juil. 2023This was our first time camping in an RV and we had a great trip to Jasper, Banff, Golden, Revelstoke and Penticton. We had 9 nights in the RV and found that there was plenty of space for our group of 6. Also, on the last day we had a long drive back and the hosts allowed us to return the RV a little later than expected which we really appreciated.
- Lucy D.oct. 2022We had an amazing trip to Jasper and Banff in this RV! The van was so easy to drive and easy to set up each day. Tons of space still with 4 adults, the slide out was a real luxury! We really loved all of the automatic features🤩. It was almost freezing a few night but so cosy in the van with the heating on! The owners were also very accommodating, allowing us to pick up a little early and drop off a little late. Our only little complaint would be that some parts were not very clean when we picked up, bed linens in particular had definitely not been washed or swapped between renters, which then meant we had to buy extras whilst we were away. There also wasn’t really any cleaning products provided (not sure if this is the norm or not though) so had to buy some things to clean before dropping off.
- timothy B.sept. 2022We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days in the Happy Family’s motorhome, travelling around Vancouver Island. Bob and Clare / Hong Gao (owners) were extremely helpful, timely and welcoming on collection, and we had everything we needed. This is a fairly new and powerful RV with great onboard generator and solar feed to enable full autonomy from hook ups. So we stayed almost exclusively in fabulous, unserviced BC Parks campsites except for the last night when we used a fully serviced site to clean the tanks and fully recharge propane and the 12v power. The owners went though most of the stuff you need to know like the oven use and some electrical issues with tank level sensors. If you’re first time RV users, you’ll need to be up to speed on using all the bits and bobs - to help with this I’d recommend that the owners provide a printed or a digital link to the appropriate user manual to help. Overall a great experience - thanks for sharing your motorhome with us! Tim and Valerie B
- Patrick K.août 2022Livré par l’hôteWe rented the RV for 5 weeks and were a family of 5. The RV itself is pretty nice and newish, the equipment is basic, rather low quality, but ok. What we disliked was that the RV was delivered about 2h late, the meeting time already been set on the afternoon. We were not contacted nor could we contact the owner. I was literally standing with my kids on the sidewalk and had no idea if they show up at all! We could not start as planned, had to stop at an overpriced campground and had a bad start. When I had to return the car and asked to bring it back a little later (after 5 weeks and having spent 9000$ on the rental) I was told I would be charged if I would not bring it back in time, although there was no next renter on this day. We bought several items for the RV which we left for free but barely got a thank you. Instead the owner charged us every dollar he could, including an extra 100$ afterwards which he did not mention when we met in person. So, nice RV, but owners seem very focussed on money-making and not enough on customer satisfaction. Would definitely go for a reliable, professional service next time. As a renter, you also bear all risks if an owner does not show up. You’ll just get your money back but not compensation or similar for a potentially ruined holiday. Read the T&Cs! FYI: Prices for new rentals were raised by over 20% while we had the RV.
- xu W.juil. 2022very good!
- Han H.juin 2022Very friendly host. This is our first time RVing and they provided a thorough tour and answered all the question we had about the motorhome. The motorhome is very new and clean! Thanks Happy Family's Motorhome for providing us such amazing opportunity to RV! Would definitely recommend and go back to them again!!
- Jenny D.août 2024It was our first time in an RV. We had a great trip. This camper was a good fit for our family of four. When we had questions it was very easy to get a response. Was easy to drive and manage.
- George F.sept. 2023The motorhome is good, and everything works fine. The problem is in the host's ability to communicate. If you are planning to use this RV, take the initiative and ask what time to pick up and drop off the RV, as they won't tell you. The voucher is clear, and so is the listing, "hours to be agreed with the host", and "flexible drop off hours". On the day of the return, they sent me a message after 2 PM saying that the return should have taken place before noon. At no other time did they tell me the return time, and they are charging me for the late return.
- Kenneth T.juin 2026What I’m sharing here is lengthy, but I hope it helps others make an informed decision about renting Hong’s RV. Our RV trip lasted three days and two nights. It was the first RV experience for my family of four. Before the trip, I researched this RV model carefully. On the first day, I picked up the RV from the host. She admitted her English was limited and only asked for my driver’s licence and phone number. She then sent me five walkthrough videos. After a quick inspection of her own, she invited questions and left. Since it was my first RV trip, I spent about 30 minutes inspecting the RV myself before heading to the campground. I discovered both the gray and black waste tanks already showed 1/3 full. We did not plan to shower in the RV, so we hoped the remaining capacity would be enough. There was also a notice beside the toilet instructing users not to flush tissue paper and to place it in the garbage bin instead. That evening, we found the fridge and freezer were not functioning properly. I confirmed the propane valve was open, but every time I pressed the fridge power button, the lights went out after release. I moved all food into the freezer with an ice pack, which barely maintained fridge temperature overnight. I texted the host, who replied it was the first time she had heard of this issue, but no solution was offered. The next morning, after the RV heater had been running overnight, I tried the fridge again and it finally worked normally. On the second evening, we noticed the toilet bowl water level was slightly elevated. I checked the monitoring panel and found the black waste tank reading full. We stopped using the toilet immediately. However, we continued using the bathroom sink because we assumed its wastewater went into the gray tank, which still read 1/3 full. On the morning of the third day, the toilet bowl water level had risen almost to the rim, with less than 1 cm remaining. I immediately informed the host. She then mentioned for the first time that the bathroom sink drained into the black tank instead of the gray tank. This information had not been included in the walkthrough videos. Again, she said she had never encountered this before. Since the campground had no sewage dump available, the only option was to scoop liquid out of the toilet bowl manually. The host also advised that the water level must stay below the toilet valve. I removed as much liquid as possible and updated her. Before returning the RV, I asked the host where she normally refilled propane and how much was required, sending her a photo of the current propane gauge. Without waiting for a reply, I researched a nearby propane supplier myself and refilled both fuel and propane before returning the RV. The propane refill cost me CAD 7.28. When returning the RV, the host’s first question was whether I had refilled the propane tank. I confirmed that I had and then showed her the toilet issue. She briefly walked around the RV, recorded videos, and loosely inspected the interior. I asked whether everything was fine and expected to complete the checklist together. Instead, she said she was in a hurry and that her husband would finish the inspection later. I therefore completed my own records independently after she left. Later, I saw that she had replied to my earlier propane question by saying she would otherwise “have to wait to get out.” She then requested CAD 30 cash from me. Many hosts refuse to rent RVs to people without prior RV driving experience. This host does not. If you are comfortable with the issues described above, this could still be an option to gain RV driving experience. Overall, the RV was reasonably clean apart from a few spider webs and dead insects.
