60th Parallel Territorial Park Campground is a scenic destination located at the Alberta-Northwest Territories border near Hay River, marking the symbolic gateway to Canada's North with its iconic 60th Parallel sign. Nestled among birch and aspen trees with views of the Hay River, this territorial park offers a peaceful retreat for RV travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.
The campground features essential RV amenities including water hookups, dump station, and nine non-powered campsites available seasonally from May 15 to September 15. A fully staffed Visitor Information Centre (open mid-May to mid-September) provides maps, brochures, and cultural displays showcasing Indigenous arts and northern heritage. Additional facilities include shower buildings, picnic tables, restrooms, and a playground.
Activities center on the Hay River's recreational opportunities, with boating, canoeing, fishing, and hiking trails available on-site. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing are popular pursuits in this northern landscape. Twin Falls Territorial Park, featuring impressive cascading waterfalls and forested trails, is less than an hour away. Great Slave Lake offers excellent fishing for grayling, pike, and trout.
