Davidsonville Historic State Park sits along the banks of the Black River in Pocahontas, Arkansas, preserving the site of the state's first post office and one of its earliest courthouses. The park blends rich frontier history with outdoor recreation, making it a standout destination in northeastern Arkansas. Campers can choose from 24 sites ranging from full-hookup Class AAA sites with water, 50-amp, and sewer connections to primitive tent sites, all set within a scenic natural landscape. Anglers will appreciate direct access to the Black River and a dedicated fishing lake, with jon boat rentals available at the visitor center. Four maintained trails — including the Historic Townsite Trail and the Black River Trail — wind through the property, offering hiking opportunities for all skill levels. The interpretive visitor center features a replica 1820s hunter-trapper flatboat and exhibits highlighting ongoing archaeological excavations that continue to uncover streets, foundations, and artifacts from the early settlement. Additional amenities include showers, restrooms, grills, firewood, picnic tables, a playground, a boat launch, and a general store. Pets are welcome. Pavilion rentals are available for group gatherings. Davidsonville Historic State Park offers an ideal mix of history, nature, and campground comfort in the Arkansas Ozarks foothills region.
