The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is located approximately 22 miles southwest of Williston, North Dakota, near the historically significant meeting point of the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers. This scenic destination offers visitors the same magnificent river vistas that Lewis and Clark Expedition members enjoyed during their 1805-1806 journey through the region.
The interpretive center features engaging exhibits including a rotunda with three large murals displaying quotes from the Lewis and Clark Journals alongside landscape paintings depicting the Missouri River region. The facility offers multiple activities for outdoor enthusiasts, including picnic areas, scenic walking trails, campgrounds, and excellent bird-watching opportunities along the riverbanks.
The center operates seasonally, with extended hours during summer months (May-September, daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.) and shorter hours fall through spring (Tuesday-Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.). The interpretive center serves as an ideal base for exploring northeastern North Dakota's rich history and natural beauty, combining educational exhibits with outdoor recreation in a stunning riverside setting.
