Spring (March through May) and fall (October through November) are the best times to visit, with mild daytime temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer biting insects than summer. Summer brings hot, humid weather and afternoon thunderstorms, but it is also peak season for swimming and lake use. Winter is cool and quiet, with bare hardwoods opening up river views and easy campground availability for RVers. Shoulder seasons offer the best balance of comfortable hiking weather and open campsites.

The Jungle Trail is the park's signature interpretive footpath, winding through bottomland forest along the South Fork Edisto River. The route is mostly flat and suitable for casual hikers, with boardwalks crossing wetter sections.
Aiken State Park has four small spring-fed lakes stocked for warm-water freshwater fishing. Anglers can target species like bass, bream, and catfish from the bank with a valid South Carolina fishing license.
Paddlers can launch canoes and kayaks into the South Fork of the Edisto, a slow-moving blackwater river that flows along the park boundary. The section is well suited to beginner and intermediate paddlers and offers shaded scenery.
A designated swim area on one of the park's lakes is open seasonally during warmer months. Swimming is at-your-own-risk with no lifeguards on duty, and the sandy beach area is a favorite for families.
Several picnic shelters and the park's community building reflect the original 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps construction. The picnic areas are shaded by mature pines and offer accessible parking suitable for tow vehicles.
The mix of pine sandhills, blackwater river, and lake edges supports a diverse range of birds, reptiles, and small mammals. Quiet morning walks along the lake loops and river trail offer the best viewing opportunities.
A small boat ramp provides access to the park's lakes and the South Fork Edisto River for fishing boats, canoes, and kayaks. Parking near the ramp accommodates trucks with trailers and is convenient for RVers towing small craft.
Communication was excellent and the trailer was as described. I highly recommend Richard for any RV rental. I will be a return customer!!

Aiken State Park, SC, United States
The park is roughly a 20 to 30 minute drive east of Aiken, South Carolina via US-78 and SC-781, and about 45 minutes from Augusta, Georgia, the closest mid-size city with full RV services. Columbia, SC is approximately a 1 hour 15 minute drive northeast on I-20, and Charleston is about 2.5 to 3 hours southeast. The final approach uses two-lane rural roads with low-clearance hazards uncommon, but RVers should watch for soft shoulders, sandy pull-offs, and a narrow park entrance road. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Augusta Regional Airport (AGS), with Columbia Metropolitan (CAE) as a larger alternative.
