Best time to visit Allaire State Park

Late spring through early fall is the most popular window, with May, June, and September offering warm days, lower humidity, and fewer mosquitoes than the peak of summer. July and August bring the warmest weather and the busiest weekends, so midweek stays are easier for RV travelers needing larger sites. Fall weekends are especially pleasant for hiking and visiting the historic village, while winter is quiet with limited campground services.

  • Historic Village at Allaire Easy
    RV parking available

The Historic Village at Allaire is a restored 19th century bog-iron works community with costumed interpreters, a general store, bakery, blacksmith shop, and chapel. Paved paths and large parking areas near the visitor center make it easy to access from an RV. Open seasonally with weekend programs and special events.

  • Pine Creek Railroad Easy
    RV parking available

Pine Creek Railroad offers rides on a narrow-gauge steam and diesel train operated by the New Jersey Museum of Transportation inside the park. The loop is short, family-friendly, and pairs well with a visit to the historic village. Separate admission applies.

  • Manasquan River paddling Easy

The Manasquan River runs through the park and offers flatwater kayaking and canoeing between launch points inside and downstream of Allaire. Bring your own boat or rent from nearby liveries. Expect slow current and mostly wooded banks.

  • Multi-use trails for hiking and biking Easy
    RV parking available

Allaire has a network of multi-use trails through pine and oak forest shared by hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Most loops are under five miles with minimal elevation change, making them accessible for families. Trailhead parking is located near the main day-use area.

  • Fishing on the Manasquan River Easy

The Manasquan River within the park is stocked with trout in spring and also holds warmwater species. A valid New Jersey fishing license is required. Bank access is available from several day-use areas and trail crossings.

  • Nature Center and interpretive programs Easy
    RV parking available

The park nature center offers exhibits on local ecology and hosts ranger-led walks, birding programs, and seasonal events. It is a good rainy-day option and a useful orientation stop for first-time visitors. Parking is close to the center and suitable for larger vehicles.

  • Picnicking and day-use areas Easy
    RV parking available

Allaire has several picnic groves with tables, grills, and restrooms set among shade trees. These areas are popular on summer weekends and provide easy vehicle access for RV day-trippers. Some sites can be reserved for groups.

Jacek was amazing with communication and having the advantages being able to have the RV delivered and set up was amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. The camper was super clean, and comfortable. We had a great time.

How to get to Allaire State Park

Allaire State Park sits just off Interstate 195 near exit 31B in Monmouth County, about a 15 minute drive from the Jersey Shore beaches at Belmar and roughly 70 miles (about 1.5 hours) from New York City and 60 miles (about 1.25 hours) from Philadelphia. RV drivers should use I-195 and Route 524 rather than narrow local lanes through Farmingdale, and should be mindful of low tree canopy and tight turns on the older park service roads near the historic village. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Newark Liberty International, with Trenton-Mercer and Philadelphia International as alternatives.
