Late June through early September offers the most reliable weather for visiting, with milder temperatures, longer daylight, and open secondary roads along the Viking Trail. July and August are peak tourism months on the Great Northern Peninsula and pair well with nearby Gros Morne visits. Shoulder seasons in June and September bring cooler, windier conditions on the exposed coastline but fewer travelers. Winter access is not recommended for RVs due to snow, ice, and limited services along Route 430.

The signature activity at the park is walking down to the shoreline to see the limestone sea arches up close. Low tide exposes more of the base and allows visitors to walk around and between the formations. Footing is rocky and uneven, so sturdy shoes are recommended.
The cobble beach around the arches is a good spot to explore tidal pools and look for smooth stones, driftwood, and shells. Watch wave conditions, as Gulf of St. Lawrence swells can surge onto the beach without warning.
The parking area doubles as a scenic picnic stop along the Viking Trail. Travelers often pause here to stretch, eat in the RV, and photograph the coastline between Gros Morne and the northern tip of the peninsula.
The west-facing shoreline makes the park a strong sunset photography location when skies are clear. The arches silhouette well against the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the setting sun.
Gros Morne National Park lies to the south along Route 430 and offers full RV camping, boat tours on Western Brook Pond, and the Tablelands. Many RVers base at Gros Morne campgrounds and visit Arches Provincial Park as a half-day excursion.
Route 430 continues north from the park toward Port au Choix National Historic Site and L'Anse aux Meadows, the Norse archaeological site at the tip of the peninsula. The full drive from the park to L'Anse aux Meadows is roughly 4 hours one way.

Arches Provincial Park, NL, Canada
The park sits on Route 430 on Newfoundland's west coast, roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive north of Rocky Harbour in Gros Morne National Park and about 4 hours north of Deer Lake. Deer Lake Regional Airport is the closest airport for fly-and-rent travelers and is the main gateway to the Northern Peninsula. Route 430 is a paved two-lane highway with no tunnels or major mountain passes, but it is remote, exposed to coastal wind, and has long stretches between fuel and services, so RVers should top up in Rocky Harbour, Parsons Pond, or Port Saunders. Watch for moose on the roadway, especially at dawn and dusk.
