Late June through early September is the prime window, when the beach is supervised, the museum is open, and ocean temperatures along PEI's east coast are at their warmest. July and August bring the biggest crowds and the best swimming conditions. Shoulder visits in June and September offer quieter boardwalks and easier RV parking, though services may be reduced. The park is a day-use area with limited winter access.

Singing Sands Beach is the signature attraction at Basin Head, a long stretch of fine white sand that squeaks underfoot due to its high silica content. Visitors swim in the warm Northumberland Strait waters, sunbathe, and walk the shoreline for kilometres. The supervised area is staffed in summer.
The Basin Head Fisheries Museum interprets the history of PEI's inshore fishery through preserved buildings, boats, and cannery equipment. Exhibits cover fishing technology, community life, and the marine ecology of the Basin Head lagoon. The grounds are flat and walkable from the day-use parking lot.
The pedestrian bridge over the Basin Head Run is a popular spot to watch the tidal current rush between the lagoon and the sea. Kids often jump from the bridge on calm days, and the boardwalk connects the museum side to the beach. It is a short, level walk suitable for all ages.
A wooden boardwalk runs behind the dunes, offering easy access from the parking area to the beach while protecting fragile vegetation. Interpretive signage highlights the rare Irish moss ecosystem found in the Basin Head lagoon. The route is stroller and mobility friendly.
Basin Head is a featured stop on the Points East Coastal Drive, a signed scenic route circling eastern PEI. RV travellers can continue east to East Point Lighthouse or west toward Souris for harbour views and seafood. The route is paved throughout and well suited to leisurely day trips.
East Point Lighthouse stands at the northeastern tip of PEI, about 25 km from Basin Head. Visitors can tour the historic light station and watch tidal currents meet offshore. The site has a gravel lot that accommodates RVs during quieter hours.
Red Point Provincial Park, about 10 km west of Basin Head, offers a supervised beach with red-sand shoreline and serviced RV camping. It is a convenient base for exploring Basin Head by day. Facilities include showers, a dump station, and hookup sites.

Basin Head Provincial Park, PE, Canada
Basin Head sits about 13 km east of Souris and roughly 80 km (about a 1 hour 15 minute drive) northeast of Charlottetown via Route 2 and Route 16, the Points East Coastal Drive. From the Confederation Bridge at Borden-Carleton, plan on about 2 hours 15 minutes by RV. Route 16 is a two-lane rural highway with some narrow shoulders and short bridges, so large motorhomes and trailers should drive cautiously, and the park's day-use lot can fill quickly in peak summer. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Charlottetown (YYG).
