July and August are the best months for an RV trip, with warm daytime temperatures, long daylight hours, and reliable beach weather on Fraser Lake. June and early September are good shoulder-season choices for lighter crowds and cooler driving conditions. During the winter season the park is closed, but along Hwy 16 there are several access points for Fraser Lake. RVers should be prepared for overnight frosts and possible snow in late spring and early fall in the Nechako Plateau.

The park's main draw is its sandy beach on Fraser Lake with a designated swimming area. A roped off swimming area is located at the beach and picnic area, safe swimming practices are a must, visitors are encouraged to remain within the designated area, and an abrupt drop-off is marked with floats. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
Fraser Lake offers open water for powerboating, waterskiing, and paddling. There are good waterskiing opportunities on Fraser Lake and a boat launch is located approximately 500 metres from the campground. Boaters should keep a close eye on the weather as Fraser Lake is subject to sudden, heavy winds which can transform the lake surface into dangerous whitecaps. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
Fraser Lake is a productive fishery accessible directly from the park. Fraser Lake produces burbot, char, rainbow trout and kokanee. Anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
An easy interpretive walk introduces visitors to the natural and human history of the area. A self-guided interpretive trail offers eight signs that provide information on plants, animals, and history of the area. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
Fraser Lake's reliable winds make the park a good base for windsurfing. Prevailing winds allow windsurfing at various skill levels on Fraser Lake. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
The park's marsh area is a prime spot for observing birds and beavers. The marsh area represents ideal habitat for many species of birds and aquatic insects, with birds often seen in the early morning including the redwing blackbird, Canada geese, loons, and warblers, and beavers whose work can be viewed along the trail. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
Paddlers can launch directly from the park to explore Fraser Lake's shoreline. Canoes and kayaks are welcome, though no rentals are located at the park. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
The park sits on a site of deep historical significance in north-central BC. Situated on the southeastern shores of Fraser Lake, the park occupies the site of historic Fort Fraser established by Simon Fraser in 1806. Indigenous Peoples traversed well-used trails here to trade with other settlements, and later explorers and fur traders journeyed between Fort Fraser, Fort McLeod and Fort St. James on these same trails. bcparks.ca/beaumont-park/
This was an amazing experience. They were very easy to deal with, and quick to answer any questions we had. The camper has everything we needed and was extremely clean. I would definitely recommend.

Beaumont Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park is a 134 km drive west of Prince George on Highway 16, roughly a 90-minute trip. Vanderhoof is about an hour east of the park, and the village of Fraser Lake sits just minutes away, both offering fuel and groceries for RVers. Highway 16 (the Yellowhead) is the main RV-friendly route, with long straight stretches and moderate grades rather than steep mountain passes, though drivers should watch for wildlife, logging trucks, and winter snow on shoulder-season trips. Prince George Airport (YXS) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travellers.
