Late June through August is the peak window, when warm days support swimming, paddling, and full campground operations. Early September offers quieter sites, cooler nights, and the start of fall color across the hardwoods. May and early June can be cool and buggy but are good for anglers and budget-minded RV travelers. Winters are long and snowy in this part of the Upper Peninsula, so most RV-friendly services are limited to the warm season.

The park's designated sand beach sits on First Lake of the Fortune Lake chain and is the focal point of summer day-use. Shallow water near shore makes it family-friendly, and a picnic area with tables, grills, and a historic stone shelter is steps away. Easy walk from the day-use RV parking lot.
Bewabic's four connected lakes form a paddling route ideal for canoes and kayaks, with narrow channels linking each basin. Paddlers can launch from the park's boat ramp and explore quiet shoreline, islands, and loon habitat. Motorboats are permitted but the chain stays calm.
A network of short nature trails loops through mature hardwood and pine forest behind the campground. Expect gentle terrain, interpretive points, and seasonal wildflowers. Trailheads are near the campground and day-use area, both reachable with an RV.
Anglers target largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and panfish across the lake chain. Shore fishing, pier casting, and small-boat trolling are all productive. A Michigan fishing license is required.
The park includes tennis and basketball courts in the day-use area, a less common amenity in Upper Peninsula state parks. Courts are within short walking distance of the campground loops. Good option for families traveling by RV with kids.
Bewabic makes a practical basecamp for exploring nearby Ottawa National Forest lands, including lakes and trails managed by the Iron River Ranger District. The surrounding forest offers extensive warm and cold-water fishing across thousands of lakes and hundreds of miles of streams. Drives from the park typically take 30 to 60 minutes to reach major forest access points. fs.usda.gov/r09/ottawa/recreation/iron-river-ranger-district
US-2 and the back roads around Crystal Falls become a scenic corridor during peak autumn color in late September and early October. Hardwood ridges around the Fortune Lake chain turn red, orange, and gold. Easy to combine with short stops at park pull-outs and overlooks.

Bewabic State Park, MI, United States
Bewabic sits along US-2 a few miles west of Crystal Falls, Michigan, roughly a 45 minute drive west of Iron Mountain and about 2.5 hours northwest of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Marquette is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours northeast via US-41 and US-2. RV drivers should plan fuel and groceries in Crystal Falls or Iron River, since services thin out quickly on rural UP highways and cell coverage is inconsistent. The nearest airports for fly-and-rent travelers are Ford Airport (IMT) in Iron Mountain and Sawyer International (MQT) near Marquette.
