July and August offer the warmest weather, reliably open highway conditions, and the best swimming in the man-made lagoon, making them the peak months for RV travel. June and early September are good shoulder-season choices for quieter campsites and cooler hiking temperatures. Travellers visiting in fall should note that bears are commonly seen when they are attracted to the fruit trees remaining from homesteaders' orchards. Winter is not a practical RV season, as the campground operates seasonally and mountain driving conditions are challenging.

This 2 km hike from the south end of the campground leads through old cedar forest to a scenic river inlet. It is considered an easy to moderate hike that passes huge stumps with spring-board notches from early logging before opening to a pretty, fjord-looking inlet with deep clean water. bcparks.ca/blanket-creek-park/
