Best time to visit Blomidon Provincial Park

Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the full campground season, making it the prime window for RV travelers. July and August bring peak crowds and the best ocean swimming at low-tide beach areas. Shoulder months of late May, June, and September are quieter with cooler nights, and autumn color in the Acadian forest typically peaks in early to mid October. The campground and main facilities are closed outside the summer operating season, so winter visits are day-use only.

Things to do at Blomidon Provincial Park

  • Lookoff and Cliff-top Views Easy
    RV parking available

The park's clifftop lookoffs provide sweeping views across the Minas Basin to Cape Split and the Parrsboro shore. RV-accessible day-use parking sits near the main viewpoints, making this an easy stop without moving your rig on narrow trails.

  • Woodland Trail Easy
    RV parking available

The Woodland Trail is a forested loop through mixed Acadian woods on the upland plateau. It offers a moderate walk with minimal elevation change and good footing, suitable for most visitors staying at the campground.

  • Jodrey Trail Moderate
    RV parking available

The Jodrey Trail follows the cliff edge with multiple viewpoints over the Bay of Fundy. It is longer and more exposed than the other park trails, with uneven terrain in places, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

  • Borden Brook Trail Easy
    RV parking available

The Borden Brook Trail winds through shaded forest alongside a small brook and connects with other park trails. It is a shorter option for visitors wanting a quick nature walk from the campground area.

  • Beach and Tidal Exploration Moderate
    RV parking available

The beach below the cliffs is a prime spot to experience the world's highest tides and hunt for agates, amethyst, and zeolite minerals exposed by retreating water. Check a tide chart before heading down, as the beach can be cut off by incoming tides.

  • Picnic Area and Day-Use Easy
    RV parking available

The day-use and picnic area offers tables, open grassy space, and cliff-edge views ideal for a lunch stop. Parking here accommodates day-visit RVs and tow vehicles.

  • Cape Split Day Trip Strenuous

Nearby Cape Split Provincial Park Reserve offers one of Nova Scotia's most iconic coastal hikes, about a 13 km return trek to a dramatic headland. RVers can base at Blomidon and drive the tow vehicle or car to the Cape Split trailhead, which has limited parking better suited to smaller vehicles.

Tyler's camper trailer was exactly the thing we needed for a family reunion in Cape Breton. From the initial contact in May to the contract completion in July, Tyler was easy to work with and accommodating. The trailer with upgraded mattresses is very comfortable, roomy and is easy to put up and take down. I will definitely keep Tyler and his trailer in mind for any future reunions. Thank you Tyler for a great experience.

Tyler was the perfect RVezy host. He delivered and set up his tent trailer in my son's driveway so I could have a quiet place to retreat to and sleep. Thoroughly enjoyed my week in his trailer and would recommend him to anyone needing a tent trailer in Nova Scotia or beyond. thanks Tyler it was a pleasure to meet you.

What a treat! We had a great tour with the Scramper around Cape Breton - the kids and pooch had a blast! 10/10 will rent again!

We rented the Scramper for a week, driving the entire perimeter of Nova Scotia. The RV was clean and stocked with basic utensils, cleaning supplies, towels, sheets, etc. The RV, itself, performed well, even on some very steep and narrow roads. Remember, you aren't driving a VW bug, so getting out of some narrow spaces and full parking lots can be a challenge, but the Scramper has a camera that engages when backing up, which helps immensely. Before taking off, Megan gave us a thorough tour. That, along with the clear written instruction booklet, made what at first seemed daunting actually quite easy to manage. Finally, we want to give a shout-out to Nova Scotia and their marvelous provincial parks. The Scramper and the provincial parks made for a lovely week.

How to get to Blomidon Provincial Park

The park lies about 35 km north of Wolfville and roughly 110 km (about 1 hour 20 minutes) northwest of Halifax via Highway 101 and Route 358 through Canning. From Moncton, New Brunswick, it is about a 2.5 hour drive. RV drivers should note that Route 358 is a rural two-lane highway, and the final stretch into the park includes a steep, winding climb up to the cliff-top campground, which requires caution with larger rigs and trailers. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ).
