Summer brings warm weather and the full schedule of interpretive programs and the annual battle reenactment, while September and October offer cooler temperatures, thinner crowds, and autumn color along the Licking River. Shoulder months in April and November can be pleasant for day use, but campground services and the swimming pool are seasonal and may be limited or closed.

The battlefield memorial marks the site of the 1782 Battle of Blue Licks, one of the last battles of the American Revolution. Interpretive signage and a stone monument honor the Kentucky militia who fell here, including Daniel Boone's son Israel. RV parking is available at the main visitor lot.
The Pioneer Museum houses exhibits on the battle, frontier life, and regional paleontology tied to the Licking River salt licks. Displays include artifacts, fossils, and dioramas interpreting the site's natural and military history. The museum is within walking distance of the lodge and main parking area.
The Buffalo Trace is a short loop trail that follows a path once used by bison traveling between salt licks. The route passes through hardwood forest and offers interpretive signage on local ecology. It is a manageable walk for most RV travelers staying at the park.
The Savannah Trail traverses the park's protected grassland habitat, home to the federally listed Short's goldenrod. The route is exposed and best walked in cooler parts of the day. Access is from the main trail network near the lodge.
The Heritage Trail links the battlefield area to the Licking River overlook with a moderate walk through wooded terrain. Hikers gain views of the river valley and pass interpretive markers along the way. The trailhead is near the campground and day-use area.
The Licking River runs along the park and offers bank fishing for bass, catfish, and panfish. A Kentucky fishing license is required for anglers age 16 and older. Paddlers can launch kayaks or canoes for a quiet float through the rural valley.
The park's seasonal swimming pool and shaded picnic area provide a relaxed break from driving for RV families. The pool typically operates from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Picnic shelters are available on a first-come basis.

Blue Licks Battlefield State Park, KY, United States
The park sits along U.S. Route 68 near Mount Olivet, Kentucky, about 45 miles northeast of Lexington (roughly a one hour drive) and about 35 miles southwest of Maysville. Cincinnati, Ohio is approximately 75 miles to the north, around a 90 minute drive via I-75 and U.S. 68. RV drivers should note that U.S. 68 is a two-lane rural highway with rolling hills, some narrow shoulders, and a steep descent into the Licking River valley near the park entrance, so use low gears and watch for slow vehicles. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), with Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington as an alternative.
