Late April through early May is the prime window, when northbound shorebirds such as western sandpipers, dunlin, and black-bellied plovers peak in the tens of thousands. Target a visit one to two hours before high tide, since rising water pushes birds close to the viewing platforms. Fall migration from August through September is quieter but still productive, with milder weather and smaller crowds. Winter visits are possible but bring frequent rain, strong wind, and short daylight hours.

The park's boardwalk and gravel trail lead to elevated viewing platforms at the edge of the Grays Harbor mudflats. During spring migration visitors can watch tens of thousands of shorebirds feeding and flocking close to shore. Time arrivals one to two hours before high tide for the best concentrations.
A short, mostly flat trail of roughly three-quarters of a mile round trip connects the parking area to the beach through salt marsh and coastal scrub. The route includes boardwalk sections over wet ground and is suitable for most ability levels.
Bottle Beach is recognized as part of the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network through the broader Grays Harbor estuary. Expect western sandpipers, dunlin, dowitchers, black-bellied plovers, and raptors such as peregrine falcon hunting flocks overhead.
At low tide, walkers can explore wide stretches of sand and mud where driftwood and shell fragments accumulate. Stay off closed wildlife zones and watch the incoming tide, which returns quickly across the flats.
Westport sits about 10 miles west of the park and offers a working marina, fresh seafood, the Westport Maritime Museum, and access to Westhaven State Park for surf watching. It pairs well with a morning of birding at Bottle Beach.
These two coastal state parks south of Westport provide RV camping with hookups and direct beach access, making them practical overnight bases for visiting Bottle Beach. Both offer miles of flat sandy beach suited to walking and clamming in season.

Bottle Beach State Park, WA, United States
The park sits on State Route 105 about 20 miles west of Aberdeen, Washington, a drive of roughly 30 minutes, and about 10 miles east of Westport. From Olympia it is a drive of about 1.5 hours via US 12 and SR 105, and from Seattle plan on 2.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic through Tacoma. SR 105 is a paved two-lane highway with no tunnels or major grades, so it is comfortable for large RVs, but the park entrance road and small gravel lot are tight, and rigs should scout turnaround space before committing. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA).
