Late June through early September is the best window for RV visits, when daytime highs are warm enough for beach use and the Cabot Trail is fully open. July and August offer the warmest water in Aspy Bay but also the busiest traffic on the Cabot Trail. September brings cooler temperatures, thinner crowds, and the start of fall colours in the Cape Breton Highlands, a strong shoulder-season choice for RVers. The park is not maintained for winter use, and access roads can be snow-covered from late fall through spring.

Cabots Landing Beach is a long sand and pebble beach on Aspy Bay that forms the centrepiece of the park. Visitors can walk its full length, swim in the sheltered bay, or beachcomb for sea glass and driftwood.
The memorial cairn and bronze bust above the beach commemorate the traditional landing site of explorer John Cabot. A short walk from the parking area leads to interpretive signage and bay views.
Sugarloaf Mountain rises directly across Aspy Bay from the park and offers a steep hike with panoramic views of the bay, beach, and Cape Breton Highlands. The trail is unmaintained and recommended for experienced hikers.
The Cabot Trail passes near the park and is one of Canada's most celebrated scenic drives. RVers can loop through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, stopping at lookoffs, trailheads, and coastal communities.
The fishing village of Bay St. Lawrence and the rugged coastal community of Meat Cove lie a short drive north of the park. Both offer harbour views, whale-watching tours, and dramatic cliffside scenery at the northern tip of Cape Breton.
Cape Breton Highlands National Park borders the Cabot Trail south of Cabots Landing and protects highland plateaus, coastal cliffs, and boreal forest. It offers numerous RV-accessible trailheads, lookoffs, and front-country campgrounds.
Anglers can cast from the beach at Cabots Landing for mackerel and other inshore species in summer. A provincial fishing licence is required and anglers should check current Nova Scotia regulations.
