Late spring through early fall, roughly May to October, is the prime window for RV travel at Camp Creek, with warm days, lush greenery, and all campground loops typically open. June and September offer the best balance of pleasant weather and smaller crowds, while October brings vivid Appalachian fall foliage that draws leaf peepers. Summer weekends can fill quickly, so reservations are recommended. Winter trips are possible but expect cold nights, potential snow at elevation, and reduced services.

Mash Fork Falls is a scenic cascade just a short walk from a roadside pull-off near the campground, making it one of the easiest waterfalls in West Virginia to visit. The multi-tiered falls are especially photogenic in spring when flow is strong. Parking is close by and suitable for smaller RVs and tow vehicles.
Campbell Falls is a wide, low cascade over a rock ledge on Camp Creek, reached by a short trail from a nearby parking area. The falls are a favorite photo stop and family picnic spot. Use the day-use lot rather than tight pullouts for larger rigs.
The Farley Loop is a moderate forest hike that links to the broader Camp Creek trail network through hardwoods and along ridgelines. It offers quiet woodland scenery and modest elevation change. The trailhead has parking suitable for day-use vehicles.
Camp Creek is stocked with trout in spring and offers classic Appalachian stream fishing within the park. Anglers can wade or fish from the bank near the campground and day-use areas. A valid West Virginia fishing license and trout stamp are required.
The adjacent state forest features a network of multi-use roads and trails open to mountain biking, providing a longer backcountry option for cyclists. Terrain ranges from gentle gravel roads to more technical singletrack. Riders can access trails directly from the park campground.
Camp Creek State Forest includes designated equestrian trails that share ridges and hollows with hikers and bikers. Trailers can use larger day-use lots in the forest area rather than the main campground loops. Bring your own stock; rentals are not offered on site.
The park maintains shaded picnic areas with tables and grills near the creek, plus a playground for kids. This makes a convenient midday stop between waterfall visits and hikes. Large pull-through parking is limited, so arrive early on busy weekends.

Camp Creek State Park, WV, United States
The park is reached via Exit 20 off Interstate 77 near Camp Creek, about 15 minutes north of Princeton and roughly 40 minutes south of Beckley, West Virginia. Driving times are approximately 2 hours from Charleston, WV, 2.5 hours from Roanoke, VA, and about 4.5 hours from Washington, D.C. RVers should note that the access road from the interstate is paved but narrow and winding with some grades, so large rigs should drive slowly and watch for tight turns near the park entrance. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Raleigh County Memorial Airport (BKW) in Beckley, with larger options at Yeager Airport (CRW) in Charleston and Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional (ROA) in Virginia.
