Late spring through early fall, roughly May through September, is the best window for RV travel, with mild daytime temperatures and reliable road access. June and September are ideal shoulder months for climbers and hikers who want cooler weather and fewer crowds. Summer parking areas can get crowded, so plan on arriving early to get a spot or be prepared to hike from parking farther away. Winter brings snow and freezing nights at the park's high elevation, which can limit RV comfort and access.

The park sits in the Almo Valley about 2 miles north of Almo, Idaho, roughly a 45 minute drive south of Burley and Interstate 84. From Salt Lake City, Utah, allow about 3 hours via I-84 and the Sublett and Conner Creek routes, and from Boise plan on roughly 4.5 to 5 hours. RV drivers should expect narrow rural roads, steep sections, and some gravel surfaces on the approach through Elba and Almo, so check trailer length and ground clearance before committing to side roads. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Salt Lake City International.
