June and September offer a balance of open facilities with smaller crowds than the July to August peak. Shoulder seasons bring cooler nights and better campsite availability, while winter remains open for day use, fishing, and quieter camping with occasional snow.

Chatfield Reservoir offers two full-service boat ramps and marina access for motorboats, sailboats, kayaks, and paddleboards. Designated swim beach and no-wake zones make it family-friendly, and RV parking is available at ramp lots.
The Audubon Nature Center sits within the park and provides interpretive exhibits and access to a nearby great blue heron rookery. Easy walking trails lead to viewing platforms ideal for birders and families.
A paved and natural-surface loop circles the reservoir for hiking, running, and cycling with multiple access points. Trailhead parking lots accommodate RV rigs and tow vehicles.
Chatfield is a popular warm-water fishery for walleye, bass, trout, and catfish, with shoreline access and boat fishing both productive. A Colorado fishing license is required.
One of the largest off-leash dog areas in the Denver region sits within the park, complete with pond access for swimming dogs. Parking lots near the entry are large enough for RVs and trailers.
The park hosts a designated model airplane flying field and serves as a well-known hot air balloon launch site on calm mornings. These unique features make Chatfield a popular spot for spectators as well as participants.
Chatfield includes dedicated equestrian trails and a seasonal concessionaire offering guided horseback rides. Large trailer and RV parking is available near the stables area.
My experience with Justin was 5 star from the start. The commutation was great, the camper was clean and stocked. Everything worked and was explained. We really enjoyed our camping trip with this camper. Thank you Justin.

We had a wonderful time. Elissa was very informative, responsive to any questions and very helpful with suggestions. We were first time van renters and we now have a desire to continue.

Just book it already! It’s the van you want! The van itself has everything you need! Spacious! Easy to drive and an amazing turning radius! And not bad in gas. The Host is even better! Super sweet, helpful and knowledgeable about Colorado! I had the most random questions and she’d answer them and get back to me promptly. I can’t wait to go back and explore more with EJ’s vans!

Colorado Springs is about 60 miles south via I-25 and C-470, typically 75 to 90 minutes by RV. Access roads are paved, level, and RV-friendly with no tunnels or steep mountain grades, though metro-area traffic and low-clearance underpasses on side streets should be monitored. Denver International Airport is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly 40 miles northeast.
