Best time to visit Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the best conditions for swimming, boating, and high-elevation hiking. July and August are peak season, so reservations fill quickly and arrivals should plan ahead. Shoulder months in May, early June, and late September bring cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and quieter campgrounds, though some backcountry trails may still hold snow. Winter access is limited and services are reduced.

Things to do at Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

  • Lindeman Lake Trail Moderate
    RV parking available

Lindeman Lake Trail is a short but steep hike to a turquoise alpine lake, roughly 1.5 km one way from the trailhead. The trailhead has a dedicated parking area, though Lindeman Lake parking lot is subject to break-ins, so do not leave anything of value in your vehicle. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

  • Radium Lake Trail Strenuous
    RV parking available

Radium Lake Trail is a challenging backcountry hike to a remote alpine lake with backcountry campsites. The Radium Lake Trailhead (16 km return) is accessible from the Chilliwack Lake Campground. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

  • Chilliwack Lake Boating and Paddling
    RV parking available

Chilliwack Lake offers boating, canoeing, and kayaking from a day-use boat launch near the main campground. The boat launch is small, shallow and designed for boats of less than 20 feet in length. This area is prone to high winds in the afternoons. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

  • Lake Swimming and Day-Use Beach Easy
    RV parking available

The day-use area offers a sandy beach for swimming and picnicking beside Chilliwack Lake. Visitors can enjoy swimming at Chilliwack Lake, but the water is very cold, there are no swimming rafts, and the beach area is sandy. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

  • Fishing Chilliwack Lake Easy
    RV parking available

Chilliwack Lake is a productive fishery accessible from shore or boat. Visitors can fish for Dolly Varden, kokanee, rainbow, and cutthroat trout, and anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake-park/

  • Greendrop Lake Trail Strenuous
    RV parking available

Greendrop Lake Trail extends beyond Lindeman Lake through old-growth forest to a second alpine lake with backcountry campsites. The trail between Lindeman Lake and Greendrop Lake has experienced washing out and has been re-routed by the creek near Greendrop Lake, and hikers should follow the square orange markers, and not the flagging tape through this area. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

  • Trans Canada Trail Section Easy
    RV parking available

A section of the Trans Canada Trail runs through the park and offers easy walking from the day-use area. The Trans Canada Trail winds through park, and from May to October, hikers can park in the day-use parking lot and follow the Trans Canada Trail to the Radium Trail. bcparks.ca/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake-park/

  • Wildlife and Nature Viewing Easy
    RV parking available

The park's mix of valley-bottom lake, old-growth forest, and alpine ridges supports excellent wildlife viewing. Forty kilometres of trails provide opportunities for hiking, bird and wildlife viewing, and nature appreciation. bcparks.ca/parks/sxotsaqel-chilliwack-lake/

Quinn and his family made the drop off and pick up a great experience. This was our first rental on the app, and they were very patient with us. Thank you!

Quinn was excellent, kind and helpful. Genuinely wants you to enjoy his RV and have a fantastic experience - which we did! I had several questions along the way which Quinn always took the time to answer. RV is clean and well equipped. Highly recommend Quinn and the Adventure Seeker.

How to get to Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

The park sits at the end of Chilliwack Lake Road, roughly 40 km southeast of the city of Chilliwack and about 150 km east of Vancouver, typically a two to two-and-a-half hour drive from Vancouver via Highway 1. The access road is paved but narrow and winding in sections, with steep shoulders and tight curves that require careful driving in larger RVs and trailers. Drivers should fuel up and stock supplies in Chilliwack, as there is no cell phone reception past the On the Way store on Chilliwack Lake Road. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
