Copper Culture State Park, WI, United States
The park sits just west of downtown Oconto, Wisconsin, off US Highway 41/141, roughly a 35 to 45 minute drive (about 30 miles) north of Green Bay and about 3.5 hours north of Milwaukee. Access roads are flat, paved, and free of mountain passes or tunnels, making the route straightforward for any RV class, though the internal park road and parking loop are compact, so larger Class A motorhomes should scout turnaround space before pulling in. Watch for posted local weight limits on smaller side streets in Oconto and use the main highway approach. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB).
Late May through early October offers the most comfortable conditions for an RV day visit, with mild temperatures, green grounds, and reliable access to the picnic area and interpretive trails. July and August bring the warmest weather and the highest visitation in the broader Oconto and Green Bay area. September and early October are excellent shoulder-season choices, with cooler air, fewer mosquitoes, and fall color along the Oconto River. Winter visits are limited because grounds are snow-covered and the on-site museum is seasonal.
Grounds snow-covered; museum closed for the season
Cold and snowy; museum closed, day-use access only on plowed areas
Thaw and mud season; museum closed
Spring opening; expect wet ground
Pleasant; black flies possible near the river
Warm and green; mosquitoes active
Peak visitation in the wider Green Bay area
Warm summer conditions
Excellent shoulder season

Snow cover; museum closed for the season
Walk the grounds where archaeologists excavated burials associated with the Old Copper Culture, an ancient Indigenous people of the northern Midwest. Interpretive panels explain the site's role in understanding early copper tool use in North America.
Tour a small seasonal museum operated by local partners that displays artifacts and information about the site and the Old Copper Culture excavations. Hours are limited, so check ahead before driving in.
Stroll the short, mostly flat paths through grass and tree groves along the Oconto River at the western edge of the park. The route is suitable for casual visitors and families.
Use the picnic area for a midday stop while traveling between Green Bay and points north. Tables and shade trees make it a practical lunch break for RV travelers on US 41/141.
Cast from the riverbank with a Wisconsin fishing license for species common to the lower Oconto River. The flat shoreline access is friendly for travelers who want a quick break from the road.
Look for songbirds, waterfowl, and other wildlife in the riverside trees and brush. Spring and fall migration periods are especially productive at this small green space inside the City of Oconto.
Pair a stop at Copper Culture with a short drive south to Green Bay for additional attractions, full-service campgrounds, and supply runs. The drive is roughly 30 miles on US 41/141.
Our family had a great stay in Taylor’s camper! It was clean, well equipped and he was great explaining everything to us when we arrived. We already booked it for next year!

I've rented his rv several times now and will continue to anytime im in the area. Excellent host and very clean and well equipped rv. He makes sure you know how everything works and where it is. He makes setting up and returning the rv is easy and confusion free. If you need an rv definitely look at him first except when I want to rent it of course.
