Curlew Lake is one of eastern Washington's most popular fishing lakes, stocked with rainbow trout and also home to largemouth bass, tiger muskie, and yellow perch. Shore anglers can use the park's fishing dock, and RVers can launch boats directly from the park ramp.
The lake's long, narrow shape and generally calm summer conditions make it a favorite for motorboats, waterskiing, and wakeboarding. A boat launch and moorage are located inside the park, and paddlers will find quieter water in the coves near the south end.
The park has a designated swim beach with a roped swimming area and a picnic lawn just steps from the parking lot. Shallow, sun-warmed water makes it a good stop for families traveling by RV.
Curlew Lake is known for summer loon sightings and is a popular stop for birdwatchers. Bald eagles, ospreys, deer, and waterfowl are regularly seen from the shoreline and campground loops.
A short drive south in Republic, the Stonerose site lets visitors split shale to look for 49-million-year-old plant and insect fossils. The town of Republic has RV-friendly parking lots and is the nearest full-service hub for groceries and fuel. stonerosefossil.org

Curlew Lake State Park, WA, United States
The park sits along State Route 21 about 10 miles north of Republic, roughly 100 miles northwest of Spokane, which is about a two-hour drive on US-395 and SR-20. From Omak to the west the drive is around 60 miles over Wauconda Pass on SR-20, a two-lane mountain highway with grades and curves that require lower gears in larger RVs. Sherman Pass on SR-20 east of Republic is the highest year-round pass in Washington and can have steep grades, seasonal snow, and chain requirements in winter. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Spokane International Airport (GEG).
