Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, is the prime window for RV travel to Dillon State Park, when the campground, beach, and marina are in full operation and lake temperatures are comfortable for swimming and boating. June through August bring the busiest weekends and reservations fill quickly, so midweek stays are easier. September and early October offer cooler nights, thinner crowds, and colorful hardwood foliage along the trails. Winter visits are possible for day use, but expect reduced facilities and the possibility of freezing overnight temperatures.

Dillon Lake is the centerpiece of the park and offers open water for powerboats, pontoons, kayaks, and anglers. A public boat ramp and seasonal marina provide launch access, rentals, and fuel. Common catches include largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and saugeye.
The park beach is a sandy public swim area on Dillon Lake with open shoreline views and easy access from the day-use parking. It is a popular family stop in summer, with restrooms and picnic areas nearby.
Blackberry Ridge is a forested loop trail near the campground that climbs gentle sandstone ridges through mixed hardwoods. It is a good option for a short morning hike from an RV site.
Licking Bend Trail follows wooded terrain near the Licking River arm of the lake, passing small streams and rock outcrops. Expect roots and some elevation change, with quiet stretches good for wildlife viewing.
The Hickory Trail is a shorter wooded loop suited to visitors looking for a quick hike close to the campground. It winds through second-growth forest typical of the Appalachian foothills region.
Dillon offers multiple picnic shelters and open lawns near the lake with grills and restroom facilities. These areas are a convenient lunch stop between activities and accommodate RV-size vehicles in main lots.
Downtown Zanesville is a short drive from the park and features the historic Y-Bridge over the Muskingum River, pottery heritage sites, and local restaurants. It is an easy half-day excursion from the campground.
The RV met our needs perfectly. Very clean. The Queen mattress was really comfortable, too. Tom was available for any questions and concerns throughout the weekend. We will definitely look him up again.

The host was very responsive and the camper was just what my wife and I were looking for. Everything was included and all we needed was food and cloths. The coffee service was appreciated too! Will rent from again.

Dillon State Park, OH, United States
Dillon State Park sits about 10 miles northwest of Zanesville and roughly 60 miles east of Columbus via I-70 and State Route 146, a drive of about an hour from the capital. From Cleveland the trip is around 140 miles south, about two and a half hours via I-77 and I-70. Roads into the park are paved two-lane state and county routes with rolling grades typical of southeastern Ohio hill country, so large motorhomes and towables should take curves at posted speeds and watch for low tree branches on secondary approaches. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH).
