July and August are the best months to visit, when Atlantic water temperatures are at their warmest, supervised swimming is typically offered, and the boardwalk and day-use facilities are in full operation. Late June and early September are pleasant shoulder-season options with lighter crowds, though lifeguard service and some services may be limited. Spring and fall bring cool maritime winds and fog, which can make beach visits brief. Winter visits are possible for beach walks, but facilities are closed and coastal weather can be severe.

A wooden boardwalk runs behind the dunes, providing level access to viewpoints, benches, and the main beach. It is an easy, family-friendly walk suitable for all ages and offers views over Glace Bay and the surrounding coastline.
The long sand and cobble beach is the park's main attraction during summer, with supervised swimming typically offered in peak season. Atlantic waters are brisk, and the open shoreline is ideal for beachcombing and shoreline picnics.
The freshwater lagoon and dune system behind the beach support shorebirds and waterfowl that are easy to spot from the boardwalk. Bring binoculars for migrating species in spring and fall.
The day-use area has picnic sites with tables near the beach access and parking. It is a convenient lunch stop on a Cape Breton coastal drive.
The Cape Breton Miners' Museum in nearby Glace Bay tells the story of the region's coal-mining heritage through exhibits and underground tours. It pairs well with a beach visit and sits only a short drive from the park.
Located a short drive away in Table Head, this Parks Canada site marks the location of Guglielmo Marconi's transatlantic wireless station. The interpretive centre and coastal viewpoint make a quick, RV-friendly stop.
The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site is roughly a 40 minute drive south of the park and offers one of North America's largest historical reconstructions. Plan a full day to explore the fortress, shoreline, and visitor centre.

Dominion Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park sits on the coast between Glace Bay and Sydney, Nova Scotia, reached via Route 4 and local roads through the community of Dominion. Sydney is roughly a 15 to 20 minute drive away, while Baddeck is about an hour west and Halifax is roughly a four to five hour drive southwest via Highway 104 and the Canso Causeway. RV drivers should note narrow local streets near the beach access, limited large-vehicle turnaround in the day-use lot, and tight parking during peak summer weekends. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport (YQY).
