Late June through early September is the prime window, when Northumberland Strait waters are at their warmest and PEI's coastal roads and tourism services are fully open. July and August bring the busiest visitation and the best beach weather, while the June and September shoulder seasons offer cooler temperatures, lighter traffic, and easier RV parking at nearby attractions. Many PEI provincial park services operate only during the summer season, so RVers visiting in May or October should expect reduced facilities and should confirm access before arrival.

Quiet beach walking along the Northumberland Strait shoreline is the park's signature activity. The shore features red sand, scattered pebbles, and views across to Nova Scotia on clear days.
The waters off southeastern PEI are among the warmest north of the Carolinas in summer, making them ideal for swimming. Calm, gently sloping beaches suit families and casual swimmers.
Cape Bear Lighthouse, a short drive from the park, is a restored wooden light station known for receiving the first Canadian distress signals from the RMS Titanic. The site includes a small museum and ocean-view walking paths.
The park lies directly on the Points East Coastal Drive, a signed scenic route looping through eastern PEI. The drive links lighthouses, harbours, seafood shacks, and beaches, and is well suited to RV day touring.
The working fishing village of Murray Harbour offers lobster and seafood dining, wharf views, and local shops a short drive from the park. Seal-watching boat tours operate seasonally from the area.
Sections of the Confederation Trail, a tip-to-tip rail-trail across PEI, pass through eastern Kings County within easy reach of the park. The trail is flat, crushed-stone, and suitable for casual cyclists of all abilities.
Wood Islands, about 30 minutes west of the park, is home to a historic lighthouse complex with interpretive exhibits and the terminal for the seasonal Northumberland Ferries service to Nova Scotia. The site has ample parking suitable for RVs.

Fisherman's Haven Provincial Park, PE, Canada
The park lies in southeastern PEI, roughly an hour's drive (about 65 km) east of Charlottetown via Trans-Canada Highway 1 and Route 4 through the Points East Coastal Drive. From the Wood Islands ferry terminal it is approximately 30 minutes by road, and from the Confederation Bridge at Borden-Carleton it is about two hours. Charlottetown (YYG) is the nearest airport for fly-and-rent travellers. PEI has no mountain passes or tunnels, but RVers should note the Confederation Bridge restricts certain vehicles in high winds and charges tolls only on exit, and rural secondary routes can be narrow with soft shoulders.
