Four Mile Creek State Park, NY, United States
The park is about a 40 to 50 minute drive northwest of Buffalo via I-190 and the Robert Moses Parkway, and roughly 20 minutes north of the city of Niagara Falls. Travelers flying in typically use Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), about 45 miles away, for fly-and-rent trips. RVers should note that the Robert Moses Parkway and some nearby parkways in New York restrict commercial trucks and, in places, trailers, so larger rigs should plan a route via Route 18 and Route 93; check signage before entering any parkway. There are no major mountain passes or tunnels on the approach, but lake-effect snow can close roads in the off-season.
Late June through early September brings the warmest weather, the longest days, and full campground operations, making it the most popular window for RV stays. May and late September to mid-October are strong shoulder seasons with cooler nights, fewer crowds, and good fall-color drives through the Niagara region. RV travelers should be prepared for lake-effect wind and sudden rain off Lake Ontario in spring and fall, and should reserve well ahead for summer weekends and holiday periods.

Shoreline and pier fishing along Four Mile Creek and the Lake Ontario bluff is a signature activity at the park. Anglers target Chinook and coho salmon, brown and rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and yellow perch depending on the season. A New York State fishing license is required.
Short trails wind through the wooded creek ravine and along the lake bluff with views over Lake Ontario. The terrain is mostly gentle and suitable for casual walkers, with a few short climbs near the creek crossings.
Old Fort Niagara in nearby Youngstown is a preserved 18th-century fortification at the mouth of the Niagara River, roughly 10 minutes from the park. The site offers guided tours, historic reenactments, and sweeping views of Lake Ontario and the Canadian shoreline. RV parking is available in the main visitor lot.
Niagara Falls State Park is about a 25 to 30 minute drive south and is the oldest state park in the United States. Visitors can walk the Goat Island paths, ride the Maid of the Mist, and view the American and Horseshoe Falls. Designated RV and bus parking is available near the main visitor center.
Route 18 and the Seaway Trail hug the Lake Ontario shoreline and link a string of orchards, wineries, and small harbor towns east of the park. It is a relaxed half-day drive with frequent pullouts for photos and picnics. RVers should use Route 18 rather than the restricted Robert Moses Parkway.
Wilson-Tuscarora State Park is about a 20 minute drive east and offers a mature hardwood forest, a 3-mile hiking trail, and a marina at the mouth of East and West Twelve Mile Creeks. It is a quieter day-use alternative with large paved parking suitable for RVs.
The park bluff is a productive spot for spring and fall migration birding along the south shore of Lake Ontario. Expect warblers, raptors, waterfowl, and gulls depending on the season. Bring binoculars and a field guide.
We rented Peter’s trailer for 3 nights and had a fantastic experience. He delivered the trailer directly to our campsite, arrived right on time, and had everything set up within 30 minutes. The trailer was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. We only had to contact Peter once during our stay, and he was immediately available and extremely helpful. His communication and service were top-notch. Highly recommend renting from Peter — we would definitely do it again!
