Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, fully open campgrounds, and reliable access to Flume Gorge, Echo Lake, and the Cannon Mountain Tramway. September and early October bring peak foliage and cooler hiking conditions, though campsites book out quickly on fall weekends. May and late October are quieter shoulder seasons but can see cold nights, lingering snow on higher trails, and reduced visitor services. Winter visits are possible for skiing at Cannon Mountain, but the campground is closed and mountain weather turns severe.

The Basin is a glacially carved granite pothole along the Pemigewasset River. A short paved path from the Basin parking area on the parkway leads directly to viewing platforms. The lot has dedicated bus and RV spaces.
Echo Lake is a 39-acre mountain lake at the north end of the park with a sandy swimming beach, boat rentals, and views of Cannon Mountain. The day-use area includes a parking lot that can handle medium RVs. Canoes and kayaks are available seasonally.
The Franconia Notch Recreation Path is a paved, mostly flat 8.8-mile bike and walking trail running the length of the park. Trailhead parking is available at Lafayette Place, the Basin, and Skookumchuck, giving RV campers easy access. The path connects most major park attractions.
The Franconia Ridge Loop is a classic 8 to 9 mile hike over Little Haystack, Mount Lincoln, and Mount Lafayette along an exposed alpine ridge. The Falling Waters and Old Bridle Path trailheads share the Lafayette Place parking lot. The route is strenuous with steep grades and above-treeline weather risk. fs.usda.gov/r09/whitemountain

Franconia Notch State Park, NH, United States
The park sits along I-93 in Franconia, New Hampshire, about 2 hours north of Manchester and roughly 2.5 to 3 hours north of Boston. Through the notch, I-93 narrows to the two-lane Franconia Notch Parkway with a reduced speed limit, tight shoulders, and closely spaced exits, so RV drivers should slow down and stay alert for sudden stops at scenic pull-offs. From the north, Littleton is about 15 minutes away via I-93, and the closest major fly-and-rent airports are Manchester-Boston Regional (MHT) and Boston Logan (BOS). Expect mountain grades on the approach and be prepared for fog, sudden rain, and strong crosswinds in the notch itself.
