Late spring through early fall is the prime window, with May, June, September, and October offering comfortable temperatures, open campgrounds, and peak trail conditions. July and August are warm and humid and fill quickly on weekends, so book early for summer holidays. Fall brings excellent foliage in the hardwood forest and cooler nights ideal for campfires. Winter visits are possible for day use, but campground amenities are reduced outside the main season.

Hopewell Lake is a 68-acre lake at the heart of the park with a boat launch, rental boats, fishing pier, and shoreline paths. Anglers target largemouth bass, panfish, and stocked trout, and non-powered and electric-powered boats are permitted. pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/french-creek-state-park.html
Scotts Run Lake is a smaller, quieter lake popular for trout fishing and paddling. A gravel launch and day-use area provide a peaceful alternative to Hopewell Lake.
The Lenape Trail is a moderate loop through mixed hardwood forest connecting the campground area with interior sections of the park. It is a good introduction to the park's ridges and stream valleys.
The Horse-Shoe Trail is a long-distance hiking and equestrian route that passes through French Creek on its way from Valley Forge to the Appalachian Trail. Day hikers can sample scenic sections starting from park trailheads.
French Creek offers more than 30 miles of designated mountain biking trails through rolling Piedmont terrain. Routes range from beginner forest roads to technical singletrack suitable for intermediate riders.
The park is home to two 18-hole disc golf courses that wind through wooded terrain. Both courses are free to play and include parking suitable for tow vehicles after unhitching.
Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site is an adjacent National Park Service unit preserving an early American iron-making village. The park's 848 acres and historic structures illustrate industrial operations from 1771 to 1883, when iron plantations laid the foundation for the transformation of the United States into an industrial nation. nps.gov/hofu/
The Six Penny Day Use Area offers picnic pavilions, open fields, and access to park trails in a setting built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The Six Penny Day Use District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its CCC-era landscape architecture. npgallery.nps.gov/AssetDetail/NRIS/87000054

French Creek State Park, PA, United States
The park sits off PA Route 345 near Elverson, roughly an hour (about 50 miles) northwest of Philadelphia and about 25 miles southeast of Reading via the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) and Route 10. RV drivers should expect rolling rural two-lane roads with moderate grades on the final approach through Berks County farmland; there are no major tunnels, but low-clearance bridges on some local shortcuts should be avoided, so stick to Route 345. Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, about 60 miles to the southeast.
