Late June through early September is the prime window, when the swimming beach is staffed, campsites are open, and Otsego Lake is warm enough for boating and paddling. September and early October bring quieter campgrounds and colorful fall foliage across the surrounding hills, making shoulder season a favorite for RV travelers who want cooler nights and easier reservations. Winter visits are possible for day-use activities like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, but the campground closes off-season and facilities are limited.

The park operates a guarded swimming beach on Otsego Lake with clear, spring-fed water. Swimming is included in the park entrance fee. The beach area has ample paved parking within walking distance of a rig.
Hyde Hall is a National Historic Landmark country mansion located inside the park boundary and open for guided tours in the warmer months. The visitor parking area accommodates standard trucks and smaller RVs; larger rigs should stage at the main day-use lot and walk over.
The Sleeping Lion Trail is a moderate loop that climbs through mixed hardwood forest to an overlook above Otsego Lake. The trailhead leaves from the main park road with room for RV-friendly parking nearby.
Otsego Lake offers quiet paddling, bass and lake trout fishing, and the distinction of being the source of the Susquehanna River. The lake is the northernmost point of the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and the origin of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. A cartop boat launch is available in the park.
The park's lakeside picnic area has tables, grills, open lawns, and restrooms, with paved loops that work for tow vehicles and smaller motorhomes. It is a convenient base for a day trip from the campground or from Cooperstown.
In winter the multi-use trail network opens up to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on groomed and ungroomed routes. Day-use parking is plowed, but the campground is closed so overnight stays are not available.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is about 8 miles south in Cooperstown village and is the region's top attraction beyond the park. Oversized-vehicle parking is limited in the village itself, so most RVers park at a designated trolley lot and ride the Cooperstown Trolley into town.
We had a wonderful time! The RV was beautiful and clean, and the owners were responsive and accommodating.

We had an incredible time with our AirStream rental from Joseph. He delivered it to our home and picked it up from there. We never moved the RV... it served as an overflow bedroom for a family reunion. I highly recommend this rental. It was new, clean and Joe was on time and great about communicating with us and providing instructions. We will rent again!

Glimmerglass State Park, NY, United States
The park is about 8 miles north of Cooperstown on County Highway 31, roughly a 75-minute drive from Albany, 90 minutes from Syracuse, and around 4 hours from New York City via I-88. Approach roads through central New York are generally RV-friendly rolling terrain with no major tunnels, though the last few miles on County Highway 31 are narrow two-lane country road, so take it slow with a larger rig. Albany International Airport (ALB) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, with Syracuse Hancock (SYR) a similar distance to the west.
