Late spring through early fall is the most popular window, with May, June, and September offering warm days, active wildlife, and full marina and campground services. July and August bring peak swimming and boating weather but also the highest crowds and humidity, so reservations fill quickly. Shoulder months of April and October are excellent for RV travel, with cooler nights, fall color along the lake, and lighter traffic at trailheads and boat ramps. The campground is seasonal and typically closes in late fall through early spring.

Green River Lake is the centerpiece of the park, offering open water for motorboats, pontoons, kayaks, and anglers. The lake is known for largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. A full-service marina provides boat rentals, slips, fuel, and launching access close to the campground.
A designated sandy swim beach sits within the park along the lake shoreline. It is an easy walk or short drive from the campground and provides a family-friendly summer option. Restrooms and picnic areas are nearby.
The park maintains a network of multi-use trails open to hikers and mountain bikers winding through hardwood forest above the lake. Loop options range from short nature walks to longer routes of several miles. Trailheads include parking suitable for tow vehicles after unhooking.
The developed campground offers electric sites, a dump station, shower houses, and a playground close to the lake. Day-use picnic shelters and tables overlook the water and are popular for group outings. Sites accommodate a range of RV sizes.
Green River Lake's long shoreline and protected coves make it well suited to kayaking and canoeing. Paddlers can launch at the marina or from informal access points in the park. Early mornings are calmest and best for wildlife viewing.
The lakeshore and surrounding woodlands host bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey. Spring and fall migrations bring added variety. Binoculars are recommended along quieter trails and shoreline overlooks.
The park has a disc golf course set among the trees, offering a casual activity between lake outings. It is suitable for beginners and families. Parking is available at the course trailhead within the park.

Green River Lake State Park, KY, United States
The park sits just south of Campbellsville, Kentucky, off KY Highway 55, about 85 miles southeast of Louisville (roughly 1 hour 40 minutes) and about 80 miles southwest of Lexington (around 1 hour 30 minutes). Bowling Green is about 70 miles west, or a little over an hour by RV. Access roads are paved two-lane state highways with rolling terrain and a few moderate grades, so drivers should plan for slower speeds on hills, but there are no major tunnels or severe mountain passes to worry about. For fly-and-rent trips, Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) is the most convenient major airport, with Lexington Blue Grass Airport (LEX) and Nashville International (BNA) as alternates.
