Late May through early October is the prime window, with warm days, an open swimming beach, and the full campground in operation. June and September offer the best balance of comfortable weather and lighter crowds, making them ideal for RV travel on the narrow mountain roads that approach the park. October brings strong fall color across the Seven Mountains ridges but cooler nights, so travelers should prepare for frost. Winter visits are possible for day use, though the campground and water facilities close seasonally.

The sand beach on six-acre Greenwood Lake is the park's central summer attraction. Swimming is permitted during posted hours from late May through Labor Day, and the adjacent picnic area has RV-friendly parking.
A self-guided interpretive walk leads visitors past the preserved furnace stack, blacksmith shop, cemetery, and foundations of the 19th-century Greenwood Iron Works. The flat route starts near the visitor center and is suitable for all abilities.
The long-distance Standing Stone Trail passes directly through the park, offering day-hike access to ridge-top vistas. Popular out-and-back sections lead to Greenwood Spur and Stone Valley overlooks.
Pennsylvania's Mid State Trail can be reached from the park via connector routes through Rothrock State Forest. Hikers can string together loops of varying length through mature hardwood forest.
Anglers cast for stocked trout in Standing Stone Creek and for bass and panfish in Greenwood Lake. A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is required.
Greenwood Lake is open to canoes, kayaks, and other non-powered boats with current registration or launch permit. The small lake is well suited to beginners and families.
The park serves as a staging area for the well-known singletrack network in surrounding Rothrock State Forest. Riders can access technical ridge trails and forest roads directly from park trailheads.
Our host answered all of our questions and was incredibly flexible with drop-off and pick-up. The RV was as described and the cousins had a great time on our camping trip!

Rented for football weekend at Penn state. RV is showing its age, but very spacious and housed. 3 dads and 3 teenagers pretty comfortably.

Shawn and Melinda made it easy to hold a memorable Penn State tailgate, even for someone like me who is new to RV rental. The Beaver Stadium RV lot didn’t have RV hookups so they made sure we had water and extra gas for the generator. They thought if every detail. The RV was super clean and well-stocked. They had excellent communication and were so friendly and helpful. I would 100% rent from them again.

This was my first time renting an RV and it was the smoothest process! The hosts were in contact with me before delivery so I knew exactly when they would arrive. They were so friendly and set up the entire camper and gave me a tour. We had an awesome experience, thank you!

Greenwood Furnace State Park, PA, United States
The park lies along Route 305 in Huntingdon County, roughly 25 miles (about 40 minutes) east of State College and about 35 miles (1 hour) north of Huntingdon. Travelers approaching from the east via US 322 should expect steep grades and winding two-lane sections through the Seven Mountains, so large motorhomes and trailers should drive cautiously and check weather in shoulder seasons. From I-80, expect roughly a 90-minute drive south on mountain highways. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is University Park Airport (SCE) near State College, with Harrisburg International (MDT) about two hours east as a larger alternative.
