The park preserves remnants of the mid-1800s Jefferson Iron Furnace, a relic of the Hanging Rock iron region. Interpretive signage near the site explains the area's Appalachian industrial history.

  • Day trip to Lake Vesuvius, Wayne National Forest Moderate
    RV parking available

Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area lies about 45 minutes south in the Wayne National Forest and offers additional hiking, a horse trail system, and a second lake to explore. It pairs well with a multi-night Jackson Lake basecamp. fs.usda.gov/r09/wayne/recreation
