Late spring through early fall is generally the best window for RV travel, with May, June, September, and October offering mild temperatures, open marina services, and active theatre and festival schedules. Midsummer (July and August) brings warm, humid weather and the busiest campground weekends, so reservations are recommended. Shoulder-season visits in April and October can deliver fall color or spring wildflowers with lighter crowds, though overnight temperatures drop and some park services operate on reduced hours.

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, KY, United States
The park sits off KY Route 3 near Prestonsburg, about a 10 minute drive from US 23, the Country Music Highway. Lexington is roughly 2.5 to 3 hours west via the Mountain Parkway, Huntington, West Virginia is about 1.5 hours northeast via US 23, and Charleston, West Virginia is about 2 hours east. RV drivers should plan for winding two-lane Appalachian roads with rolling grades on the approach, and watch for low-clearance rail bridges and tight turns in small downtown areas if detouring off US 23. The nearest commercial airports for fly-and-rent trips are Yeager Airport in Charleston and Tri-State Airport near Huntington, with Lexington's Blue Grass Airport as a larger alternative.
