Kettle Lakes Provincial Park, ON, Canada
Kettle Lakes Provincial Park is located 30 kilometers east of Timmins via Highway 101. Timmins is approximately 700 kilometers south of Toronto and 110 kilometers southwest of Cochrane. The nearest commercial airport is Victor M. Power Airport in Timmins, approximately 35-40 kilometers northwest of the park. Highway 101 is a well-maintained route suitable for RVs with no significant grade restrictions, but the park entrance has back-in sites only, requiring careful maneuvering at check-in.
July and August offer the warmest temperatures, averaging 23-24°C, making them ideal for swimming, paddling, and water activities. However, these months experience peak camping demand. May and June provide pleasant spring weather with lower visitor density, while September offers mild conditions and fall colors with reduced crowds. The park closes from mid-October through mid-May due to snow and winter conditions.

The park's 22 lakes are stocked with Rainbow and Brook Trout, offering excellent freshwater fishing opportunities for RV anglers. Boat launches provide access to Hughes Lake and other major fishing destinations.
Four marked hiking trails range from easy to moderate difficulty. Tamarack Trail (2 km, easy) circles a scenic lake, Kettle Trail (2 km, moderate) follows an ancient glacial ridge, Wintergreen Trail (1.5 km, moderate) overlooks Island Lake, and Oh-Say-Ya-Wah-Kaw Trail (3 km, moderate) explores deeper forest. All trailheads are accessible from campground parking.
Fourteen kilometers of biking trails wind through boreal forest, ranging from easy to moderate terrain. Trails provide scenic views and access to Slab Lake. Bikes can be rented at the park.
The park's glacial lakes offer protected paddling for all skill levels. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent at the park office. Most lakes have boat launch access for paddlers launching from campgrounds.
Three supervised beach areas provide swimming and picnicking: Island Lake (near Island Lake Campground), Slab Lake (near The Pines), and Green Lake. All beaches have nearby parking and facility access.
The boreal forest habitat supports woodpeckers, warblers, loons, and waterfowl. Spring migration and summer breeding season offer the best viewing opportunities. The Visitor Centre offers guided naturalist programs.
