The Kettle Pond Loop is a roughly 3-mile forested trail that circles the entire pond. It rolls gently over roots, rocks, and boardwalks through boreal forest with pond views and access to remote lean-to sites.
Kettle Pond is a quiet, motorless pond ideal for canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. A hand-carry launch near the day-use parking area gets paddlers on the water quickly for wildlife watching and fishing.
Kettle Pond is stocked and managed for cold-water species including brook trout, along with yellow perch and smallmouth bass. A Vermont fishing license is required and motorized boats are not permitted.
Owl's Head is a short, popular hike within Groton State Forest with a CCC-built stone shelter and panoramic views over the forest's lakes and ponds. The trailhead is a short drive from Kettle Pond along Route 232.

Kettle Pond State Park, VT, United States
Kettle Pond sits on Vermont Route 232 in Groton State Forest, about 20 miles (40 minutes) northeast of Montpelier and roughly 30 miles (50 minutes) southwest of St. Johnsbury via US Route 2. Route 232 is a paved but narrow, winding two-lane road with rolling grades through the forest, so large Class A motorhomes and long trailers should take curves slowly and watch for soft shoulders. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent RV travelers is Burlington International Airport (BTV), about 65 miles (1 hour 30 minutes) west.
