The park is typically open from mid-May through Columbus Day weekend, with July and August offering the warmest water for swimming and the most reliable weather for picnicking and paddling. Late June and early September are good shoulder windows for RV visitors who want lighter crowds and cooler hiking temperatures. Fall foliage in the Champlain Islands peaks in early October, making a day visit especially scenic. Outside the operating season the gate is closed and facilities are not maintained.

Knight Point features a small, gently sloping sandy swim beach on Lake Champlain with views across the water to the Green Mountains. Lifeguards are not on duty, so swimming is at visitors' own risk. Changing facilities and restrooms are located near the parking area.
A short, flat nature trail loops through a designated natural area of hardwood forest and lakeshore within the park. The walk is suitable for families and takes about 30 to 45 minutes at a relaxed pace. Interpretive signs highlight local ecology and island history.
The park offers a gravel boat launch and protected shoreline ideal for launching kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats onto Lake Champlain. Paddlers can explore the sheltered bays around North Hero and Grand Isle. Parking accommodates vehicles with small trailers.
Picnic tables, grills, and a rentable picnic shelter are set along the lake with open views south to the Champlain bridge. The day-use area is popular with families and works well for large group gatherings. Drinking water and restrooms are available on site.
Anglers cast from shore or launch boats to fish Lake Champlain for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and perch. A current Vermont fishing license is required for all anglers aged 15 and over. The protected waters near the point are productive in early summer.
The Knight Tavern building at the park entrance dates to the early 1800s and once served travelers using the ferry that ran between North Hero and Grand Isle. The historic exterior can be viewed year-round from the roadway. Interpretive signage shares the site's role in early Vermont travel history.
U.S. Route 2 through the Champlain Islands is part of a popular regional cycling route, and Knight Point serves as a scenic rest stop with parking, water, and restrooms. Cyclists can ride north to North Hero village or south across the bridge to Grand Isle. Wide shoulders make the route RV and bike friendly.

We had a great holiday aboard Le Nomade! Perfect condition, comfortable, drives really well. Cleanliness and communication were impeccable. Sébastien was super quick to respond to the couple of questions we had along the way, and very helpful. The back hitch was a real bonus, as it allowed us to attach a bike rack and open up those possibilities. We have AirBnB-ed travel in recent years and the experience was on par with our best Superhost interactions! Highly recommend this vehicle, and the RVezy process is very straightforward.

Super VR, nous avons utilisé le VR pour une course à relais de Toronto - Montréal et le véhicule répondait à tous nos besoins! Les propriétaires répondent rapidement aux messages et ils sont très flexible!

Knight Point State Park, VT, United States
Knight Point sits on U.S. Route 2 at the southern end of North Hero Island, about 35 miles (roughly 45 minutes) north of Burlington and around 100 miles (about 2 hours) south of Montreal via I-89 and the Route 2 island causeways. RV drivers should note that the approach from the south crosses several low causeways and drawbridges, including the Sandbar and the North Hero drawbridge, where wind gusts off Lake Champlain can affect tall vehicles. There are no tunnels or mountain passes on the route, but the bridge over The Gut has posted weight limits, so very heavy rigs should confirm restrictions. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Burlington International Airport (BTV).
