Summer brings warm lake days ideal for swimming and boating, but also high humidity, afternoon thunderstorms, and peak weekend crowds at the campgrounds. Winter is mild but wet, with cooler nights and fewer visitors, making shoulder-season weekdays a good option for quieter sites. How to get to Lake Catherine State Park

The park is located southeast of Hot Springs, Arkansas, roughly a 20 to 30 minute drive from downtown Hot Springs and about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes southwest of Little Rock via Interstate 30 and Arkansas Highway 171. Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips. RV drivers should note that Highway 171 into the park is a narrow, winding two-lane road with rolling grades and tight curves as it approaches the lake, so take it slow with larger rigs and trailers.
