Late April through early June and September through October are the most comfortable months, with warm days, cooler nights, and active wildlife. Summer is peak season for swimming, boating, and lakeside RV camping, though July and August often bring high heat and humidity. Winter visits are quiet and mild on average, but cold fronts can bring freezing nights, so RVers should plan for occasional hard freezes. Spring storms and high winds are common across south-central Oklahoma, so monitor weather closely when traveling.

Tucker Tower is a stone observation tower on the south shore of Lake Murray that now houses a nature center with geology and wildlife exhibits. Originally begun as a governor's retreat in the 1930s, it offers panoramic views of the lake from a clifftop perch. Paved parking near the tower accommodates standard RVs and tow vehicles.
Lake Murray is the centerpiece of the park, with a 5,700-acre reservoir popular for bass, catfish, and crappie fishing. Multiple boat ramps and marinas around the shoreline provide launch access for ski boats, pontoons, and kayaks. Several ramp parking areas can fit trucks with boat trailers.
The Anadarche multi-use trail network winds through cross-timbers forest along the lakeshore and is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Loops range from short out-and-back walks to multi-mile rides with rolling terrain. Trailhead parking is large enough for trucks and trailers.
Elephant Rock is a popular swim beach and picnic area on the north end of the lake, named for a distinctive boulder formation. The day-use area has restrooms, shaded picnic shelters, and a sandy swim beach. Paved lots accommodate RVs and tow vehicles for day visits.
The park includes an 18-hole public golf course set among rolling hills and oaks just minutes from the campgrounds. Tee times are open to park visitors and the public. The clubhouse lot has space for trucks and dual-axle tow vehicles.
Buzzard's Roost is a scenic point on the lake with picnic tables, restrooms, and lake access for fishing and paddling. The area is a quieter alternative to the main beaches and works well for a midday stop. RV-friendly parking is available near the picnic area.
Lake Murray State Park maintains designated equestrian trails and stables, with miles of bridle paths through wooded terrain. Riders can bring their own horses to designated horse camps or use the park's stable concession. Horse-camp loops include trailer parking suitable for living-quarters rigs.
Had a great time on our trip and the owners were super responsive

If I could rate the experience more than 5 star I would. The communication was outstanding. Evan was in constant communication about pickup, checking in on the experience and checkout. We ended up getting upgraded to a different trailer which was fine with us since we didn’t need a toy hauler. Evan came back out twice. The first was because site only had 30 amp and needed an adapter. The second was because we needed propane and couldn’t get the stove to work. That was primary user error but he got it all rectified. The trailer was amazing, clean and had any and all amenities you would want. The renters are also very nice and friendly people. I would definitely rent from them in the future and highly recommend them.

Lake Murray State Park, OK, United States
The park sits about 7 miles south of Ardmore, Oklahoma, with main entrances off U.S. 77 and Lake Murray Drive, just east of Interstate 35. From Oklahoma City the drive is roughly 100 miles south on I-35, about 1 hour 40 minutes; from Dallas-Fort Worth it is roughly 110 miles north on I-35, about 1 hour 50 minutes. I-35 and U.S. 77 are flat, open routes with no tunnels or steep mountain grades, but expect strong crosswinds on the plains and watch posted bridge weight limits on rural park roads. The closest commercial airports for fly-and-rent trips are Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
