Late June through early September is the prime window for RV travel, with warm, dry weather, open swim beaches, and full campground operations. July and August are peak season, so reservations fill quickly on summer weekends. September and early October offer cooler nights, fall color along the Wenatchee River, and thinner crowds. Winter transforms the park into a groomed Sno-Park hub for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, though RV camping is limited.

The park's sandy beaches and designated swim area on Lake Wenatchee offer a calm introduction to the glacier-fed lake. Kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards can launch from the day-use shoreline, with a separate boat ramp for motorized craft. Water stays cold even in midsummer.
Anglers target trout, kokanee, and seasonal sockeye salmon where the Wenatchee River exits the lake. Day-use parking near the river is RV-friendly and close to the bank. Washington State fishing licenses and current regulations apply.
Lake Wenatchee State Park maintains an equestrian day-use area with trailer parking and access to forested bridle trails. Riders can connect to routes that extend into the surrounding national forest. Bring-your-own-horse setup, no on-site rentals.
Trails within and adjacent to the park include easy lakeshore walks and longer climbs toward Nason Ridge. Summer wildflowers, lake overlooks, and shaded forest are the main draws. Wear sturdy shoes and carry water on longer routes.
The Nason Cross-Country Ski Trail begins at Lake Wenatchee State Park and connects toward the Kahler Glen area. In winter the park becomes a Sno-Park trailhead for groomed classic and skate skiing. A Washington Sno-Park permit is required in the winter season.
From the park, drivers can head up the Chiwawa River Road to explore national forest campgrounds, trailheads, and swimming holes. From WA-207, turn onto Chiwawa Loop Road, then follow signs onto Chiwawa River Road (Forest Road 6200) up the valley. Road narrows beyond pavement; large RVs should scout ahead.
The Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth lies about 20 miles south and makes an easy day trip for food, shops, and riverside parks. Large RV parking is limited in town, so plan to unhook or drive the tow vehicle. Summer festivals draw heavy weekend traffic on US-2.
Stayed in the camper for two nights at a campground just outside Wenatchee. Had everything we needed, the AC was an absolute saver in the summer heat. Host was incredibly responsive and nice, would happily rent again.

Best camping trip ever. We showed up at the camp site and everything was set up and hooked up. Very clean and well appointed. We will rent from them again.

Lake Wenatchee State Park, WA, United States
From Seattle, the park is roughly a 2.5 to 3 hour drive east on US-2 over Stevens Pass, then north on State Route 207 at Coles Corner. From Leavenworth, take US-2 West for about 15 miles to Coles Corner, then turn right on WA-207 North and follow it roughly 4 miles to the park entrance. RV drivers should plan for the steep, winding grades of Stevens Pass on US-2, where chains may be required in winter and runaway truck ramps are posted; check pass reports before departure. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), with Pangborn Memorial in Wenatchee as a smaller regional option.
