Late June through August is the best window, when the campground is fully open, pond water is warm enough for swimming, and coastal trails on the Bonavista Peninsula are clear of fog banks more often than not. July and August are peak months for whale and iceberg sightings along the nearby coast, and also the busiest period for reservations. Early June and September are good shoulder-season options for RVers who want cooler temperatures, fewer bugs, and easier site availability, though services may be reduced and evenings are noticeably colder.

Lockston Path Provincial Park, NL, Canada
The park is reached via Route 230 (the Discovery Trail) off the Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1), roughly a 2.5 to 3 hour drive (about 240 km) east from St. John's and about 15 minutes from Port Blandford. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is St. John's International Airport (YYT). Roads to the park are paved, well-graded, and free of major tunnels or steep mountain passes, making access straightforward for most RV classes, though drivers should expect narrow shoulders, occasional moose on the road at dawn and dusk, and strong crosswinds on exposed stretches of the Bonavista Peninsula.
