Late May through early October is the most comfortable window, with mild temperatures, green shoreline, and long daylight hours for picnicking and river views. July and August bring the warmest weather and peak foot traffic on weekends, while September and early October offer cooler air, thinner crowds, and fall color along the Fox River. Spring visits can be muddy after snowmelt, and the grounds are generally snow-covered and quiet in winter.
Grounds typically snow-covered; day-use only, no winter services.
Cold and often icy; minimal visitation.
Muddy conditions possible during snowmelt.
Variable spring weather; rain likely.
Pleasant picnicking weather returns.
Warm and green; watch for mosquitoes near the river.
Peak summer use; arrive early on weekends.
Warm, humid days with occasional thunderstorms.
Comfortable temperatures and lighter crowds.
Fall color along the Fox River.
Cold, damp; most visitor activity ends.
Snow cover likely; day-use only, no winter services.
The park's main draw is open shoreline frontage on the Fox River, ideal for short walks and scenic views. Benches and lawn space make it easy to watch boat traffic moving between Green Bay and De Pere.
The grounds consist of open grass and mature shade trees that work well for a simple picnic. Tables are limited, so packing a blanket is a good backup.
Interpretive signage highlights the site's connection to Eleazer Williams, the missionary long rumored to be the lost Bourbon dauphin. The short, self-guided walk is a good stretch stop for RV travelers interested in Wisconsin history.
Anglers can cast from the riverbank for species common to the lower Fox River such as smallmouth bass, walleye, and panfish. A Wisconsin fishing license is required.
The mix of mature trees and open river edge attracts songbirds, waterfowl, and raptors, especially during spring and fall migration. Binoculars are recommended for spotting birds across the water.
De Pere's riverfront, shops, and restaurants are a short drive north and pair well with a visit to the park. Voyageur Park and the CityDeck area in Green Bay are also within easy reach for a longer outing.
Our family had a great stay in Taylor’s camper! It was clean, well equipped and he was great explaining everything to us when we arrived. We already booked it for next year!

I've rented his rv several times now and will continue to anytime im in the area. Excellent host and very clean and well equipped rv. He makes sure you know how everything works and where it is. He makes setting up and returning the rv is easy and confusion free. If you need an rv definitely look at him first except when I want to rent it of course.

The camper was great. It was clean and delivered and set up. There was enough blankets and pillows for all of us. The beds were comfy. Communication was always right away. Definitely will be booking again

Lost Dauphin State Park, WI, United States
The park sits along Lost Dauphin Road just south of De Pere, about 10 minutes (roughly 7 miles) from downtown De Pere and 20 to 25 minutes (about 15 miles) from downtown Green Bay. From Milwaukee, it is roughly a 2 hour drive north via I-43, and from Appleton it is about 30 to 40 minutes via US-41 and WIS-172. Access is via paved suburban and rural roads with no tunnels or mountain grades, though the park entrance and internal lanes are narrow, so large Class A motorhomes should stage at nearby lots and use tow vehicles for the short visit. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport (GRB), about 20 minutes away.
