Manchester State Park, CA, United States
Manchester State Park entrance is located on Kinney Lane, 7 miles north of Point Arena on Highway 1. Point Arena is the nearest town at approximately 25 minutes drive. Nearest commercial airports: Santa Rosa (55 miles, 1.5 hours), San Francisco and Oakland (approximately 3 hours). Highway 1 through this region is scenic but narrow with winding coastal terrain; the park accommodates RVs up to 30 feet in length, and drivers should expect tight curves and slow traffic on this iconic coastal route.
May through September offers the most favorable weather for camping, with mild temperatures, minimal rainfall, and open campground access. June through August brings warmest conditions but also the most fog and wind. Fall months provide excellent hiking weather with fewer crowds, though autumn brings increasing rainfall. Winter months feature heavy precipitation and a closed campground, making this period unsuitable for RV camping.

This 5-mile round-trip trail passes through ponds, coastal dunes, beach, forested areas, and wetlands, showcasing diverse coastal ecosystems. The mostly flat walk offers excellent bird watching and wildlife viewing opportunities.
A 4-mile round-trip hike through coastal woodlands leads to Alder Creek where visitors can spot waterfowl and spawning salmon in season. The trail offers forest and creek ecosystems typical of Mendocino County.
The park hosts tundra swans, native waterfowl, and seasonal spawning salmon in its creeks. Coastal wildflowers including sea pinks, poppies, lupines, and baby blue eyes bloom throughout the spring and early summer.
The park's coastal location offers views of sand dunes, ocean bluffs, and the dramatic Mendocino County coastline. The San Andreas Fault enters the ocean at the park, adding geological interest to coastal walks.
