Late May through early October is the prime window, when the campground is open, daytime temperatures are comfortable, and area attractions are in full swing. July and August bring the warmest weather and the busiest weekends, so midweek stays are easier for RV travelers. September and early October offer cool nights, fewer bugs, and strong foliage color across the Schoharie Valley. The park typically closes for camping in the off-season, so spring and late-fall visitors should confirm dates before arriving.

Max V. Shaul State Park, NY, United States
The park sits along NY Route 30 in central Schoharie County, about 45 minutes (roughly 40 miles) southwest of Albany and about 25 minutes south of Interstate 88 at the Central Bridge exit. From the New York State Thruway (I-90), most RVers exit near Schenectady or Amsterdam and follow Route 30 south through the valley. Route 30 is a two-lane state highway with some rolling grades and narrow shoulders, so slow down through the villages of Schoharie and Middleburgh, and watch for low-clearance bridges on side roads. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Albany International Airport (ALB), about an hour's drive northeast.
