The best time to visit is from November through March, when daytime temperatures in Florence are comfortable and the low desert is pleasant for walking the historic district. Summer months from June through September are extremely hot, often exceeding 100 F, and are best avoided for extended outdoor touring. Spring shoulder months can be windy but offer wildflower blooms in the surrounding Sonoran Desert. Because the site is indoor-focused, a winter visit pairs well with RV stays at nearby state parks.

The original adobe courthouse is the park's centerpiece and one of the oldest government buildings in Arizona. Self-guided exhibits interpret territorial law, local architecture, and the building's adobe construction.
Indoor exhibits chronicle the career of Arizona's three-office statesman, who served as a U.S. Senator, Governor, and State Supreme Court Justice. Displays include political memorabilia and personal artifacts.
Preserved cells and office space show how the courthouse was reused as a county jail and later a hospital. Interpretive panels describe daily life in territorial Florence.
Florence has one of Arizona's largest concentrations of historic buildings, with more than 100 properties listed on the National Register. A short self-guided walking tour passes adobe homes, churches, and territorial-era storefronts.
Located about 20 minutes southwest in Coolidge, Casa Grande preserves a four-story Ancestral Sonoran Desert People's Great House. The monument has a dedicated RV-friendly parking area and short interpretive trail.
About 35 miles south on I-10, Picacho Peak offers desert hiking, wildflower viewing, and campgrounds suitable for RVs. Trails range from easy nature loops to strenuous summit climbs with cables.
The landscape around Florence features saguaro, cholla, and ironwood against the Superstition Mountains backdrop. Nearby pullouts along AZ-79 provide scenic photo stops on the way to or from the park.

McFarland State Historic Park, AZ, United States
McFarland State Historic Park sits in downtown Florence, Arizona, roughly 60 miles (about 1 hour 15 minutes) southeast of Phoenix via US-60 and AZ-79, and about 70 miles (1 hour 30 minutes) north of Tucson via I-10 and AZ-79. Access is on flat desert highways with no tunnels, passes, or steep grades, making the drive straightforward for any RV class. Street parking around the small downtown site is limited, so larger rigs should plan to park at a nearby lot or day-use area and walk a short distance. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
