Best time to visit Meziadin Lake Provincial Park

Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the longest daylight hours, making it the prime window for RV travellers on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway. July and August bring peak traffic of northbound travellers heading to Alaska, so reservations are recommended on summer weekends. Shoulder seasons in May and September can be quieter and scenic, but expect cool nights, possible snow at higher elevations on nearby passes, and limited services in surrounding communities.

How to get to Meziadin Lake Provincial Park

The park is reached via Highway 37 (the Stewart-Cassiar Highway), roughly 155 km (about a two-hour drive) north of Kitwanga and 50 km east of Stewart. From Terrace, allow around four to five hours via Highway 16 and Highway 37; from Prince George, plan on a full day of driving. RV drivers should prepare for long stretches between fuel stops, narrow shoulders, patches of gravel or chip-seal, and wildlife on the road, and should carry a spare tire as services are sparse.
