Millersylvania State Park, WA, United States
The park sits just off Interstate 5 at Exit 95, about 12 miles south of Olympia and roughly a 75 to 90 minute drive from Seattle or Tacoma in normal traffic. From Portland, Oregon, the drive is about 2 hours 15 minutes north on I-5. Approach roads are flat and RV-friendly with no tunnels or steep mountain grades, though the final stretch on Tilley Road S is a two-lane rural route, so watch for tight turns into the campground entrance. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), about 60 miles north.
Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the best conditions for swimming and paddling on Deep Lake. May and late September are quieter shoulder months with cool, often damp weather but easier campsite availability and full facility operation. Winters are wet and chilly in the South Sound; some loops and services run on a reduced schedule, so RV travelers should confirm openings before arrival. Weekends and holidays in summer book out months ahead, so reserve early.

Deep Lake offers a designated summer swim area with a sandy beach, a roped-off swimming zone, and CCC-era picnic shelters along the shoreline. Day-use parking is large enough for tow vehicles after dropping the trailer at camp.
A small boat launch on Deep Lake provides access for kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and electric or low-horsepower fishing boats. The lake is non-motorized friendly and ringed with forested shoreline ideal for slow exploration.
Several short interpretive loops wind through old-growth cedar and fir forest near the campground and environmental learning center. Trails are mostly flat and family-friendly, with signage explaining the park's natural and CCC history.
Deep Lake is stocked with rainbow trout and also holds bass, perch, and other warmwater species. Anglers can fish from the shoreline, dock, or small boats; a Washington fishing license is required.
The park preserves a collection of stone-and-log buildings, kitchens, and shelters constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. A self-guided walk through the day-use area showcases this New Deal era craftsmanship.
The mix of mature forest, wetland, and lake shoreline supports woodpeckers, songbirds, waterfowl, and the occasional bald eagle. Early morning along the lakeshore trail is the most productive time for sightings.
The park is about 20 minutes from downtown Olympia and the Washington State Capitol Campus, making it an easy base for a half-day visit. Capitol tours, the waterfront, and Farmers Market are popular stops for RV travelers.
We had such a great weekend camping in the Memory Maker! Danielle has thought of everything when it comes to making life easy while you are “roughing it”. We felt cozy and comfortable sleeping as a family of 5. It was easy to pull behind our Tahoe as well. Great experience all around, we already have our next trip booked!

Danielle is a great host! The trailer was wonderfully laid out and perfect for a family of four. It was very clean and everything worked perfectly! Our family had a great time and would definitely rent from Danielle again!

Michael’s RV was excellent. His communication was prompt and clear. The RV is in good shape, drove easily, and was very clean. The snacks and coffee were appreciated and the airport pickup and drop off was incredibly smooth. I’d definitely rent from Michael again on my next trip to Seattle.
