Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, reliable river levels for paddling, and the full campground operating season. Early fall brings cooler nights, thinner crowds, and vivid foliage across the Androscoggin valley, typically peaking from late September into early October. Spring shoulder visits can be cold and buggy, with black flies common from late May into June. The campground is closed during the winter months when snow and ice make the riverside sites inaccessible.

The Androscoggin River flows directly past the campground and offers one of New England's best multi-day paddling corridors. Flatwater stretches above the park suit canoes and recreational kayaks, while sections downstream include Class II and III whitewater for experienced paddlers.
Mollidgewock sits on a designated trophy stretch of the Androscoggin managed for brook trout, rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon. The park's riverbank access is popular with wading anglers, and a New Hampshire fishing license is required.
The scenic NH Route 16 corridor between Errol and Berlin is one of the most reliable moose-viewing routes in New England. Early morning and dusk drives from the campground often yield sightings of moose, bald eagles, and waterfowl.
Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge lies just north of Errol and protects over 25,000 acres of lake, wetland, and boreal forest habitat straddling the New Hampshire and Maine border. Visitors can launch boats, paddle quiet coves, and look for loons, bald eagles, and moose. fws.gov/refuge/umbagog
A network of trails in the surrounding Thirteen Mile Woods and nearby conservation lands offers short walks and longer climbs with river and mountain views. Trailheads along NH 16 provide pull-off parking suitable for smaller RVs and tow vehicles.
Calm pools along the park's shoreline are popular for swimming, wading, and cooling off on summer afternoons. Currents can be strong after rain, so visitors should choose spots carefully and supervise children.
The park makes a quiet base for leaf-peeping along NH Route 16 and US Route 26 toward Grafton Notch in Maine. Peak color in the Androscoggin valley typically arrives from late September into early October.

Mollidgewock State Park, NH, United States
The park sits on NH Route 16 roughly 3 miles south of Errol, NH, about 35 miles (45 minutes) north of Berlin and 2 hours north of North Conway. From Portland, Maine, expect about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive via US 2 and NH 16. RV travelers should note that NH 16 north of Berlin is a winding two-lane road with rolling grades, narrow shoulders, and frequent moose crossings, so nighttime driving is discouraged. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Maine, with Manchester-Boston Regional (MHT) a longer option to the south.
